This is a great little find tucked away in Tiverton and off the high street. The staff were lovely and friendly, the setting is great, music good and the food delicious.
I think you should ignore the previous comment entirely...this is a tapas bar so lots of small bowls of gorgeous food, great to share with a partner or a group of friends, my family will love it and we plan to come back with them very soon. Great bar.

Having traveled down from Surrey to Devon over the Easter weekend to stay with my Mum, we were looking for somewhere really nice so that we could treat her to dinner. We are all big fish and seafood lovers and the reviews on this website were so overwhelmingly positive that we decided to book.

The entrance corridor to the restaurant isn't particularly inviting and you could be forgiven for missing it all together if you didn't know it was there. First impressions when we did get inside were good, but it did feel really chilly. We were whisked off to the Gin Bar to get a drink which was nicely served, but an actual Gin menu would have been helpful, rather than relying on the very pleasant staff. To have had this on the table would also have been better than getting up and down to go to the bar when you wanted to try a different Gin. The main restaurant area looked quite inviting although cold, but sadly we were taken through and seated in the next room which was completely empty and freezing cold!

We mentioned how cold it was and were told that they had been experiencing issues with the electricity "tripping out" all day and had therefore not been able to heat the space effectively. We were assured that, with the heater on, the room would soon warm up. Don't get me wrong, that is absolutely nobody's fault, but one tiny floor level hot air blower was never going to make that room habitable! It was also lacking in life and atmosphere as we were completely alone in there.

The menu looked enticing and it was explained to us that the restaurant is "Tapas style", but some of the items are full meals. We ordered three of these tapas dishes to pick at between us, but noted that the price was actually the same as a starter in a normal restaurant. When they came they were so tiny! The calamari tapas arrived and consisted of about 6 minuscule slivers of squid and a microscopic pot of aioli for £7.50! The 3 game kebabs were very tasty, but were also very, very small and for the same price. The baked brie (which was actually a side and only £3.50) was slightly more generous, but we could have eaten three of those dishes each, never mind between us! Meanwhile, coats went back on and hands were rubbed together to keep warm. We mentioned again that it was cold where we were seated.

We ordered the Dover Sole x 3 as this is a big favourite. The menu advises that each fish can be shared between two, so we just ordered the fish and waited to see if we would need anything else to go with it. The waitress returned to say that there were only 2 Dover Sole left (in a half empty restaurant, early on a Saturday night?), so my Mum ordered the Megrim. When the three fish arrived they were just normal sizes and would have been ridiculous to share between two. My husband ordered the "Bloomin Onion" with his fish and it was more like a bloomin shallot when it came.

With the cold temperature in the room, our fish got very cold very quickly. We decided to eat up and not to hang around for desert due to the temperature. My husband again mentioned this to the staff when we left.

We left early, cold, disappointed and not well fed. I treated my Mum by paying the bill (£121), but was really upset and embarrassed that we had such a bad experience. It was like eating in somebody's garage and the tapas style of dishes just felt like a rip off. I think that they need to under promise on the menu and then over deliver, rather than the other way around.

The staff were very pleasant and what we ate and drank was fine, but we could have gone to any number of places in the area, spent less, been warm and have actually had a square meal at the end of it.

Amazing!!! Amazing food, the chef is so extremely talented! I never like fish but the calamari was so delicious I would order it again! We went for a friends birthday and they warned us they were short staffed that night but our service was still fantastic with no delays! I cannot wait to go back it is an amazing find! Loved how fresh everything was and love that it's tapas so it keeps coming out while you eat!

Excellent venue, 1st class customer service, superb selection of gins and to have a barman that knows how to properly make cocktails is a pleasant surprise these days. Varied choice of dishes, good flavours, good value..
