We stayed over the Royal wedding weekend, and paid extra to upgrade to the sea view/balcony room.
Overall the stay worked out quite expensive for 4 nights, but we enjoyed our time here. Some Pros/Cons:

Pros
Amazing views out to the sea - balcony was nice to sit out on
Loved having use of the squash courts
The reception lounges were perfect to relax in and read the papers
It has a lovely aura of faded glamour
Few minutes walk down to the beach

Cons
Breakfast was so so busy, was difficult to get served for tea/coffee and they kept running out of things like juice glasses at the buffet.
You really need to book way in advance to get any treatment in the spa
The gym was only average
Some areas of the hotel were in need of modernisation
Wedding receptions can get pretty noisy
Rooms were a little on the small side

rooms comfortable and roomy. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful and good variety with the buffet service. Swimming pool n added bonus. In need of modernisation but this is being addressed on a daily basis. It all takes time, If you want value for money you can't go wrong.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

The fourth time we have stayed at this hotel and each time the room gets better. Most of the rooms have had a makeover and this year the bar area has been transformed.
The views are wonderful, lie in bed and watch the waves and surfers.
The food was good, nice breakfast but dont leave it too late, first morning we went to breakfast at 09.30 and alot of the items were luke warm or cold.
Alot of foreign staff, but very pleasant.
Plenty of nice walks, especially out to the point.

Room Tip: Room 302, Turret Room, Fabulous.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife, bed, breakfast and evening meal. We turned up on spec and simply asked for rates and to see a selection of rooms before booking. Staff could not be more helpful in showing us 4 rooms all of which were very good, large, modern and well appointed to choose from. Our room was finished to a good standard with a huge bed and wonderful sea views, the bathroom appeared to be brand new and everything was clean. Breakfasts were plentiful, with a large buffet choice - if anything the ingredients for the cooked breakfast could have been slightly better quality, I found the bacon and sausage a little bland but I am splitting hairs on a personal preference. The evening dinner in their beautiful dining room was a 4 course affair with a wide choice of options. In the main these plates were generously portioned and well executed, a couple of minor niggles such as the risotto not being fully cooked but it by no means spoilt a very positive experience. This is not Michelin starred cooking but good honest fare which they are attempting to deliver with flair. The service from the waiting staff was excellent and the general helpful demeanour of the staff across the hotel was noticably positive. In all I would definately recommend a stay, I have stayed at a large number of family run English hotels and they generally miss the mark, are run down and the staff do not know what they are doing (in fact I was half expecting this). But on the contrary this is a very well run family owned hotel in a beautiful setting on a wonderful beach with very good rooms and a well trained and willing staff.

Have just returned from two night dinner bed and breakfast break. Lovely spacious room overlooking sea with extremely large and comfortable bed (may have been a twin-zip). Tea and coffee making facilities (no biscuits or bottled water though) in room along with iron, ironing board and room safe if required. Two lounges (one of which is for adults only) and a library area with plenty of seating and soft / subdued lighting creating a relaxing atmosphere although it did make reading a little difficult. Good variety of leisure facilities available to suit a cross section of ages and tastes ranging from chess and jigsaw puzzle to squash and spa treatments. Tasty four course dinners with choices for each course which was served promptly in a bright and fairly formal dining room. Bar / brasserie attached to hotel for pre / post dinner drinks and daytime snacks. Staff very friendly and customer service focussed which made for a relaxing and restful time.

I came here with my wife and two daughters aged 5 and 11, we stayed in a high class room called 'The Loft' our first impression when we walked into the room was WOW this by far the nicest hotel room we had ever stayed in, there was a lounge area and a shower room as well as a bathroom.

Each night we ate in the bistro, the food was top standard, and was enjoyed by the whole family. The other restaurant however was nice, but it was always busy and quite noisy, I would advise anyone who is going to stay here....eat in the bistro.

The beach was very good and it was only a 2-4 min walk from the hotel. The spa and sports facilites were very good, the indoor pool was very modern and up to date. You were able to play squash, tennis, snoocer and table tennis.

There were lots of activites on for the children, there was a clown and a band and a magician while we were there. There was also an adventure playground which they both enjoyed.

My only complaint would be it is slightly pricey.

Room Tip: The loft is quite sucluded from other rooms, where as all the other rooms are right next door to eac...

We stayed in the apartment for a week and loved it. It's not the most modern in terms of decor, but was clean, comfy and well equipped, and the hotel staff were friendly and efficient when we had a problem with the boiler. The only downside really was the number of steps to and from the drive, which were a bit of a nuisance with our baby's buggy. We could use the hotel grounds and facilities including best of all the lovely heated indoor pool. Woolacombe itself has a fantastic beach only 5mins walk from the apartment, and is a good jumping off spot for much of North Devon.

Room Tip: If you're mobility impaired, even just by a child's buggy, make sure you get an apartment wi...
