We stayed at Rudgefarm July 22-29th 2011, where do i start.....it was idyllic. The cottages are well equipped with everything you need. Lovely and clean, spacious and heating if needed (we didnt). We were in Carter's cottage this was a 3 bed for a family of 6. The views from the farm are spectacular. We were made to feel very welcome, every morning we fed the ducks near the lakes, 2 hens roamed around, sheep in the neaby field and Charlie the cat is so friendly and always ready for a fuss. The 2 lakes are stocked wel with rudd, roach, carp, my husband (on the last day) caught the biggest Grass Carp in the lake, approx 14lb! Places we visited...Poole, Monkey world, Bridport (market on wednesdays/Saturdays) West Bay (best value for fish n Chips). But if you dont want to go out there is plenty to do at Rudgefarm...Tennis (full size court), Football (on the green) tampoline, games room for pool, games barn for table tennis, skittles, table football. Dvd's and toys and books to borrow too! There really is so much to do.
Thank you Rudgefarm we will see you again!

We stayed in Shepherd's Cottage at the start of the school holidays. When we arrived the evening sun was shining on the pretty little lake at the bottom of the garden and we immediately felt rested. There were 5 of us in 2 bedrooms but we had plenty of space and the lounge/kitchen was very well equipped. We had lovely weather so we took advantage of the little cast iron BBQ provided and ate out on the terrace looking out over the garden and the surrounding hills. You couldn't see or hear the road so it was a very peaceful spot to watch the setting sun while the children played in the sandpit. Although surrounded by fields with plenty of farm animals, we didn't hear them at all in the cottage and they didn't disturb us early in the morning. This is a good choice for children of all ages, there is so much to do. The tennis court, trampoline, boating lake and table tennis were a big hit. And we all enjoyed the ramble through the nearby woods past the badger sett, although no-one was home! If the weather wasn't good you would still be hard pressed to get bored, there is an extensive DVD library for kids and adults alike. We enjoyed the local beaches and fossil hunting at Lyme Regis but we were in no hurry to leave Rudge Farm. My only recommendation would be to put in a power shower, as the current one lacks a bit of oomph but otherwise I have no complaints. The owners are very low key and let you get on with it but are around if you need them. We had a minor problem with a light having fused but it was resolved quickly and without any fuss. Great place and we hope to go back there next year.

Rudge Farm is perfect for all ages. Whether you want to quietly read a book by the lake or play tennis or go on a woodland walk there is something there for everyone! We really enjoyed our stay - the cottages were well equipped and comfortable. The farm had a very friendly relaxed atmosphere and was well maintained. Our children (8 + 4) both loved the tennis court and the rowing boats in fact so much so they didn't want to leave the farm all week! We loved Weymouth Beach and would highly recommend to families. Ludlow Castle is also fab along with Ludlow Cove. Lyme Regis is great and they have crazy golf which we all enjoyed. All in all a lovely place - highly recommend.

Found Rudge Farm through a "Random" internet search, and what a great little gem it is, really hidden away !.,..Service was excellent, Cottage was cosy with a wood burner in the lounge, and it was clean and very well equipped and the location was brilliant for the children who can play table tennis / bowls / table pool in the barn, site also has a tennis court and they went on the small lake on the rowing boat, and it was excellent that bouancy aids are supplied for the rowing boat.
Will definately be recommending to freinds. We will definately be returning to Rudge Farm in future.

Lovely clean cottages with everything that you may need provided including things like washing up liquid which saves having to pack or buy your own. Nice furnishings. Great play equipment for children. The laundry room with detergent provided is also useful. really can't fault this place! Have already recommended to friends and some have booked for a stay this summer. Oh and they provide free postcards of the place - a lovely touch!

Rudge Farm Cottages is peacefully situated on a gentle south-facing slope, overlooking the beautiful Bride Valley and close to Dorset’s World Heritage coastline. The farm is a haven for peace and tranquility within 20 acres of beautiful countryside of mature woodland, meadows and lakes. The old farm buildings have been thoughtfully converted into ten attractive holiday cottages, maintaining many of the original features, ranged around a flower-decked yard and with spectacular views across the Bride Valley towards the Coast. The cottages are all 4 star tourist board rated and are comfortably furnished with a warm and inviting atmosphere providing the perfect place for families or couples. The cottages vary in size from one to three bedrooms with most accommodation on the ground floor. Around the Farm we have plenty of leisure facilities, a picturesque woodland walk and sporting activities, including an all weather tennis court, for the more active. Alternatively you can enjoy relaxing down by the meadows or perhaps take a gentle row around the lake. The games room and games barn provide plenty of indoor activities if the weather is not so good. These include pool, table tennis, skittle alley and table football. The farm is also ideal for younger children with safe play areas including a sandpit, swings and slides, trampoline and activity pirate ship. Close to Rudge Farm there are plenty of fantastic beaches, including Hive Beach which has the highly recommended (by the Sunday Times) Hive Beach Cafe. There are also great beaches a bit further afield at Lyme Regis and Weymouth. The Dorset Coastline is a World Heritage site and provides some of the most dramatic coastline in the UK with Chesil Beach, Durdle Door and Golden Cap. ... more   less
