We stayed with family for two nights in Lulworth Mews. While there is lots of space outside to run around for the kids, the grounds are very uninspiring, and there are absolutely no nice views, despite the proximity to lovely countryside. The Mews flat itself was extremely disappointing: poorly decorated, cheaply furnished, lots of small things wrong, like the shower opening against a wall, the lock of the bathroom door ripped out of the wall, plywood doors unpainted, cupboards rickety etc. The bedrooms are cramped and dark, the living room is alright, but you can hear every word the people in the next door flat say, the kitchen very basic with a tiny dishwasher that can't really cope with the dishes of 8 people, mismatching crockery and cutlery and not even sugar or salt provided (let alone teabags).
Our outdoor "hot tub", advertised as a special perk, turned out to be inflatable and did not work properly so the temperature never got above 35 degrees and it cooled down immediately when you opened the lid so the kids all went blue after about 20 minutes in there. When we talked to the grounds maintenance guy he said he'd fix the issue but nothing happened. In addition the manager has two - very cute but very badly behaved - dogs who ran into the house and jumped halfway up the kitchen surface and we found one of them standing on our outdoor table trying to empty our half drunk wine glasses. To top it all off, there was a stag party in the next door flat that went on until 3am despite the apparently strict noise policy.
Overall extremely disappointing, badly run, poor value for money and not even a nice view from anywhere.
Upon arriving at the home we were surprised by the large open field which was great for children and dogs to play about in. Similarly we were greeted by Victor who was very helpful with and queries we had at any time. The houses were very well kept and clean with guides for the houses with information such as Wi-Fi passwords. All the beds and plates and cutlery were previously cleaned. The hot tubs proved to be a fun evening event with clean filtered water which was refilled before we arrived. Victor was very helpful in setting up everything we needed, a badminton net for example and when our car broke down he was especially helpful. Overall I rate the service and accommodation a 4/5.
Felt disappointed as this is not semi detached it as recently had another annex built on to the back making it in my view a terraced property. The interconnecting door was poorly fitted, you could hear every conversation of other occupants. Giving it 3 stars as grounds itself was lovely. My niece and my dogs loved the open space.
The location of the cottage is excellent for doing walks in and around Lulworth Cove. There is ample space outside the cottage for kids to play around.
The cottage itself isn't that spacious but the beds and linen are quite good quality. There were not enough utensils to cook food in on an electric hob, more non-stick pots and pans would help. We experienced a bit of inconvenience as only 2 electric hobs were working. All this, however made up for when we sat outside in a hot-tub which was fantastic. This came as a surprise to us and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would certainly visit this cottage again and would recommend it as well.
