Look no further than the Ballygally Castle Hotel on the Antrim Coast, just 5 minutes from
Larne centre. Not only is it the oldest inhabited castle in Northern Ireland, it also boasts
a fantastic menu in the River Restaurant, pub-style food in the bar/lounge, glorious
afternoon teas, an amazing Sunday lunch served carvery style … and all in this fabulous
setting of a castle overlooking the waves of the Antrim coast.

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary last November. Arrived on a cold evening around 7PM and got a warm welcome at reception.

I'd booked an executive room and it was very nice: spacious, well furnished and with a huge bed. Bathroom was clean. Walls were a bit thin though, and we could hear our neighbours quite clearly.

There was a wedding on in the function room, but there were still plenty of staff about. Lovely fire in the bar so we sat and had a nice drink before dinner.

We had booked dinner as part of the overall stay, so we had a smaller menu to choose from. Still very nice. A decent Ribeye steak, although I wasn't too keen on the pate starter. Dining room is very dramatic with suits of armour etc and a piano player. Service was great - very friendly.

Breakfast was excellent. We came down at the same time as a lot of the wedding guests, but it was still relaxed and there was plenty of food.

This hotel has the feeling of an independent, even though it is part of a group. It has its own character and not everything is spanking new and shiny, but you feel like you are staying somewhere different.

The only slight downside was the fact that I could hear our neighbours, but that was just a minor point. Overall, it was a great stay.

The welcome was warm when we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble whilst we were there - indeed the chef was happy to make me a meal if I wanted something off menu.

The room was clean & spacious too unlike the Slieve Donnard which had stuffed us into possibly their oldest room!

There was plenty of material around promoting northern ireland & the local food. Even though I now live here, I felt proud of the heritage & the way it was presented to the visitors. A real credit to Northern Ireland tourism & we'll definitely be back!

The hotel along with the staff was second to none. everyone including Paul, Stephen and Norma could not be more helpful or friendly. The rooms were very tasteful and clean and the food in the restaraunt was exceptional. Well worth a visit !!!
