“Welcoming, friendly, great service!”
Reviewed 13 August 2010

After our wedding in Corrie on the Saturday, we'd invited all of our guests to the Corrie Hotel the following day for a relaxed drink or three. Thankfully the weather was fair and we had use of the huge beer garden across the road. Inside, the lounge was packed with people and the staff were attentive to the constant stream of orders while also looking after the bar customers next door.

We had booked some food (pie and beans!) in advance, which went down a treat! Bar meals were available throughout the day and some people enjoyed great quality food (to go along with their pints). The party carried on long into the night and everyone made use of the large lounge, and the jukebox and pool table next door. Eventually the party called it a night and people headed back to Brodick and elsewhere.

We stayed in a family room, which had a comfortable double bed and single bed in an adjoining room. Nice views across to the mainland (on a clear day of course). There was a sink with fresh towels in the room, and a large communal bathroom located down the hallway.

Breakfast was plentiful and there was a good menu to choose from. After a few Arran ales from the night before I was happy to be presented with a good Scottish breakfast, with cereal, juice and coffee/tea options.

Overall, the hotel is in an excellent and beautiful location, with great staff and value for money rooms. The bedrooms might not imitate the Ritz but why would you need that when stopping-off between hillwalking, cycling, etc on the island?

Had a brilliant stay here - staff extremely helpful, and accommodating with mealtimes if we were running short of time after coming off the hills. Room was very clean, and the food was brilliant, both bar meals and breakfasts. The hotel has its quirks, but that all adds to the charm - don't know what some people expect for £25 a night. Good value, lovely people and an idyllic spot.

This charming building building was a welcome sight as w approached it after a strenuous hike over Goatfell. The beer was good and the staff were agreeable but the charm ended at the staircase leading to the rooms upstairs. Some effort has been made in the downstairs facilities but the rooms have been "abandoned ". The shabby wallpaper and furnishings and questionable plumbing were a shock.

Dear god,
Didn't think places like still existed. No en-suite and loo in bathroom had a large chunk broken off, one single low wattage bulb. Also not enough hot water to fill the bath which after a long days work is not really acceptable. No food after 8.30pm although they did hold some back by prior arrangment . Bedroom was clean but small for a twin. However the staff were friendly, I guess if you only pay £25 a night what do you expect.Apparently the rest of the island is much better for accomodation,Oh well good to see that the britsh isles are still hanging on to Basil Fawlty school of service!!!(I jest it's so depressing)

Tired hotel in need of complete refurbishment, almost like going back to holidays in the 50's and 60's, where you trudged down the corrider to see if the toilet was vacant. Even the en-suite didn't have a shower but an old coloured bath which had seen better days.
In one room the wash basin drained on to the roof and into the gutter. The food was typical pub grub. The owners did not make you feel particularly welcome either. Unfortunately this seems to be standard fare on Arran as the majority of the hotels are similar.
