I have stayed at a few 5-star establishments but none in my home country. I got the opportunity to try their 'Taste of Summer' package which included a night in an Estate Room, Meal at the Strathearn restaurant, breakfast and full use of the facilities.
Part of me was expecting a Scottish approximation of 5-star service but it couldn't have been further from the truth. Gleneagles really is world-class.
The room was beautiful. Based around traditional scottish themes but modern, clean and stylish. We had a great view from a bay window, over the tennis courts with the mountains in the background. Staff were friendly and respectful without being too deferential (or condescending - a common complaint in high-end establlshments).
l used the gym which was well-equipped and very clean.
The meal at the Strathearn was a real highlight. Again it had a formal edge but with that friendly Scottish earthy realism. Waiting staff were knowledgeable and flexible, helping fix a specific cocktail that wasn't on their menu. Food used the very best of Scottish produce and I can highly recommend the venison (and pigeon!). There was no sense of urgency and really was a quality dining experience. Breakfast was equally good with a wide range of food on offer.

Gleneagles is expensive and it really has to be. Scotland needs more places like this, where five star is more than just a badge.

My daughter decided to have her 40th Birthday celebrations at Gleneagles in March. We had considered other venues but 'The Ballroom' at Gleneagles was the most elegant and beautiful room and the event staff most professional. Many friends and family stayed at the hotel and all were full of praise for this perfect location. The hotel arranged golf ,spa, beauty and creche. From the moment our guests arrived, they were treated like VIP's. Rooms were of 5*standard and the choice of restaurants appealed to all tastes. The party was wonderful with a real 'wow factor' in decor, flowers, and of course the food! We were amazed at such a high standard of food considering the very large number of guests {112} a special mention to chefs Alan Gibb and Neil Mugg and their staff who created a superb meal. Well done to all the young waiting staff and many thanks to Fiona Pugh ,Cameron and Kate for arranging a perfect and memorable event.
We have attended many such events over the years and cannot praise Gleneagles enough!
Thank you!

Having stayed here before on business and sampled the service and location I was looking forward to a weekend with my wife so she could also enjoy this wonderful venue but we did not get off to a great start! Checked in at 2.00pm to be told the room was not ready but would be available shortly and reception would contact us on my mobile number. Long story short, not one phone call, 3 follow up visits to reception and 2 1/2 hours later we were allocated our room. Not the one we were told originally so luggage was also delayed.Even the complementary drink did'nt make up for the poor service from reception. That said we had a great stay with a wonderful dinner at Andrew Fairlie's. Only to be let down again at checkout over an incorrect bill.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Gleneagles for our honeymoon or mini-moon as we called it! We wanted somewhere that was extra special and completely indulgent and this hotel did not disappoint. It is set in beautiful grounds and the hotel itself oozes old style luxury. It’s like the TV show Monarch of the Glen. Grand rooms with tall ceilings, pristine plush carpets and drapes, classic dark wood furniture with rich fabrics including the odd tartan covering. As soon as you arrive you sense a different pace of life, guests relaxing and soaking up the wonderful environment. All the staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much effort. They had very kindly upgraded us to a suite and provided a bottle of champagne in our room. The room itself was gorgeous and had everything you could need including a massive comfortable bed.

The breakfast is a feast! They have absolutely everything; fresh fruits, yoghurt, seeds & muesli, fresh juices, 4 different types of eggs, 2 different types of sausages, bacon, mushrooms, haggis, black pudding, tomatoes, potato scones, roast honey glazed gammon, hollandaise sauce, cheeses, salmon, cured meats, muffins, pastries, scotch pancakes, syrups, jams... and that it just the buffet, you can also order from the menu! Arrive with an empty belly and a good appetite! You could easily spend over an hour each day, sampling the options and having a lazy breakfast whilst enjoying your newspaper or even a glass of champagne.

Whilst at the hotel we tried out several of the activities/services on offer. We would recommend the spa (the hot stone massage is amazing) and the 4x4 off road driving (driving across the highlands and into rivers was excellent fun). We also enjoyed the archery but would have liked longer than an hour, it went far too quickly.

We didn’t have chance to sample the food in the restaurant but room service provided a wide choice and was of good quality.

Obviously all this luxury and indulgence comes at a price but this was a very special occasion and we felt was justified. You feel so relaxed and pampered when you’re there it’s definitely worth it. I hope one day we’ll be able to go back, maybe for our 25th wedding anniversary!

My wife and I have just enjoyed a very special two night stay at Gleneagles Hotel and it is Simply the Best Hotel we have ever stayed at. We really were looked after from the moment we arrived, all the staff smiled and they simply could not do enough to help make our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. We really felt pampered and chilled out. While my wife was having a hot stone massage in the Spa I went to the The Stillroom by Deseo and savoured a couple of drams of Cragganmore and Dalwhinnie classic malts. The Dormy Clubhouse is a must place to visit especially after a long walk. Both night we went to the bar and enjoyed a couple of cocktails before dinner. The first night we ate in Deseo Restaurant which was very informal and the food was so fresh and cooked to perfection. On our last night we dined in the Strathearn Restaurant which has some cosy tables for two in both the restaurant and conservatory. The food was divine and I have to say was very reasonably priced. We stayed in suite in Braid House overlooking the putting green and we had stunning views over Perthshire. At the end of our two day stay we both felt relaxed and we were truly sad to leave but be in no doubt we will be back to indulge ourselves in the luxurious trappings available at Gleneagles.

Room Tip: Rooms in Braid House overlooking the putting green are of a very high standard

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There are many activities here that can either be purchased separately or as part of a package. We tried golf but there is also falconry, skeet shooting many more and the spa. All fabulous activities. There is also horseback riding and off road driving. The rooms were beautiful. We stayed in the newer rooms which have some beautiful modern amenities like heated floors in the bathrooms, remote control fireplace and remote control curtains. Just too luxurious for words. Staff were all attentive and we really felt great during our stay.
