We were given hotel vouchers for Christmas this year and we chose to stay for a short break in Crieff over the Easter Weekend. We checked all the trip advisor reports and decided on Knock Castle. What a great find. She is a grand old hotel, bit tired in places but that is part of her charm. The staff are all amazing and do whatever they can to make sure you have a wonderful time. We even got a call from the hotel on our drive up to say that they only had a couple of tables left for dinner so would like to book now. That's service. I cant speak for the lodge as we stayed in the original part of the hotel ( Gleneagles room ) It was spotless and had an amazing view which we enjoyed immensely. The TV did not go on at all. Wifi was a hit or a miss and that might be a problem for some but it was refreshing for me. The rooftop restaurant is technology free. How lovely to go for dinner and see couples actually talking to each other instead of looking at or playing games on their phones. Amazing views and fabulous food so lots to talk about. Staff all very attentive without being obtrusive. The pool is in a separate building but only seconds away. The pool temperature was perfect as was the Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The toiletries are very good quality with some amazing smells. All available to buy from the little shop. I treated my sisters to a set each instead of an easter egg and they loved them. We just want to say if you are thinking about a stay here you wont be disappointed. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so relaxing. We hope it wont be too long before we have the opportunity to come back.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the castle if you can.

This hotel provides everything one might want or imagine, there's a pool and gym complex on-site and the water was lovely when I went for a swim, they even have little bags for you to carry your damp costume back to your room. There is also a cinema and spa although we didn't use these facilities. We stayed one day at short notice (rang, booked, then got in our car and set off ) when looking for a hotel for us to use when attending a wedding in the area later this later this year. The hotel has 'adult only' times in the restaurant and pool which is a real plus although there was a child in the restaurant during the 'adult' time we were there, but she was well behaved and so it was fine.
The restaurant is at the top of the building and takes advantage of fabulous views which just serve to compliment the lovely food. We had the taster menu for dinner and weren't disappointed (the risotto & scallops were particularly of note) the only exception was the cheese plate which the serving staff could not tell us much about, had rather niggardly portions which were probably just commercial brands, which clearly had come out of a fridge and had not been allowed to 'live a little'.
Our room was clean and fresh had nice views which would have been enhanced if the trees were brought down a little further.
The only 'niggle' which I have but which certainly won't stop us returning later in the year is the musac which is throughout the hotel & pool and is noteworthy only by being tuneless, irritating and too loud. It was particularly annoying at breakfast time in the restaurant.

Thank you for taking the time to review Knock Castle Hotel and Spa.

We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your recent stay, particularly your meal in the Rooftop Restaurant. We have noted your comments regarding the music, this is particularly difficult to please everyone, but we are glad that it won't stop you returning again.

With regards to the trees, we have topped those on our property fairly recently, however not all of them are ours so we are unable to reduce those any further.

We look forward to seeing you again later in the year.

Sometimes we all need a treat as well as some 'downtime' away from the 9 to 5 but it's not always possible to jet off to sunnier climes. Besides, my winter body is not remotely bikini ready anyway! This month, I simply needed a change of scene, a bit of pampering and somewhere I could be in an hour or so. There was no hesitation in where I was going to go for my well deserved rest and relaxation...Knock Castle Hotel & Spa, right here in Scotland.
I've stayed at this hotel before and I've told anyone who will listen just how good it is. It's often disappointing when you go back to a hotel that you've previously enjoyed as sometimes it's not as good and it spoils the memory of the first time. Not this place. From the minute I walked through the door I was treated like an old friend.
Knock Castle may be homely and welcoming but believe me, it certainly doesn't skimp on luxury. The whole ambience of the place exudes olde world grandeur yet without the stuffiness of some other top end hotels I've been to.
Staying here feels like being a guest in an opulent stately home yet you are free to come and go as though you were in your own house.
Being a townie, I often forget what the smell of fresh air is like or the sound of silence for that matter. There is such an air of calm and tranquility about the place that you can easily cast off your cares and worries and just enjoy the moment. The views from the hotel are equally inspiring; no wonder there are so many paintings of the Scottish countryside!
We were lucky with the weather and on our first morning we were blessed with sunshine and a stunning blue sky - the weather gods even threw in a rainbow for good measure. One can only imagine what this setting must look like in the height of summer when the beautiful gardens are in full bloom.
I only had time for a couple of nights here but I have come home feeling rested and restored. I think the wonderful staff at Knock Castle must have a secret spell that they cast over their guests, or perhaps there's fairy dust in the water but this short trip certainly did the trick for me. I even managed to fit in a lovely facial in the hotel's spa which was just heavenly.
In short, if you're looking for traditional hospitality at its very best and a home from home vibe, then take yourself to Knock Castle Hotel. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable. We hope to visit again sometime.

Oh my god! This place is amazing! My partner and I came here on valentines night for a meal and I can honestly say it's the best meal we have ever had. It's brilliant that you can watch the chefs in the kitchen as they prepare the food, the staff were brilliant and very helpful. I really can not fault this place!
