We stayed there w/c 31/7/2017 with national Express Coach Holidays for 4 nights.

We had a room at the front of the hotel just above the entrance and found it to be a comfortable, well kept room. The room was a little cold at times but that was probably due to the inclement weather we had for August. The room was clean and the bathroom very good. The bed was clean and comfortable to sleep in. If we needed anything we only had to ask and the friendly staff obliged very quickly. The only fault I found was the floorboards made a lot of noise when you walked over them, particularly during the night when using the bathroom, but it is probably because it's an old hotel and probably one of it's charms.

The meals we had were very good, particularly the breakfast which set you up for the day's trips/exploring the stunning views and scenery in the highlands. The evening meal was adequate and different choice every night we stayed. The service was very good, in particular, Denisa who served our meals, she was very friendly, attentive and pleasant at all times, morning and evening, well done and thanks for your wonderful service.

We didn't see all the entertainment at the hotel as we used the pub down the road as it was much cheaper to drink in (Their entertainment was very good also) but we did see our last night's singer and he was very good and people enjoyed what they saw and heard.

Overall a very friendly and comfortable hotel to stay and would recommend it to anyone travelling in the highlands of Scotland.

Room Tip: If you can afford it upgrade.

The hotel is in the middle of the village. Check-in was quick and pleasant. We had a family room on the second floor. The room was large clean and we had a very large bathroom powerful shower and fresh towels every day. We didn't have one of the updated rooms the only thing we would have liked is a flat screen tele then we would have had more tele choice. The food was good I especially liked breakfast. The evening meals were good as well. Ronnie Ross the singer was good. Bar prices were o.k. It is a lovely old hotel with a beautiful dining room. Staff were nice. You can catch a bus into the nearest town Dingwall. There are some walks around the area and some unusual wood carvings near the pump room on the opposite side of the road. One evening a week there is a pipe band that plays in the village square they were very good. I wish this was nearer as I would go again.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front look over the village

Been here, it's ok, but doesn't worth it. The food is not so good, they serve boiled vegetables as a side dish. The staff was friendly and helpful. The building is very old, the light gets in the room from the hall at night. There are only 4 programs on the TV.

Thanks for the review. I'll discuss your comments with the team with a view to making improvements. We are changing the TVs over to a new digital system next week which should give us a full range of Freeview channels.

Kind Regards

Having stayed at many Shearings Hotels over the years- this is definitely one of the best .Great location and very restful. Lovely walks all around the village - the maze and the old railway station.Hop on to a bus to Dingwall -15 minutes away. Food good first 2 days and then felt a bit neglected as we were left waiting a while to be served. We were told the restaurant manageress was off for a week.Breakfast was good but NO MENUS on table unlike other S hotels. We had a great time and the weather was very warm and sunny . Room was comfortable and spacious. Would love to go back.

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and the weather was good to you.
We took breakfast menus off the tables due to fact we do a buffet breakfast. The breakfast choice is laid out on the buffet stations. Sorry you experienced a delay in service, it can get a bit hectic at times but I'm glad to hear you would still love to come back.
Hope to see you soon !

Alastair.

Over recent years have spent 5 weeks here & most importantly the main staff have not changed & cant be more helpful (this speaks volumes) - Had a standard room @ the rear recently upgraded ( New beds/furniture/walk in shower/decore) -Food is good plain home cooking standard - Regular entertainment (watch Ronnie Ross/ Highland Dancers) - This is a lovely Edwardian Hotel being slowly improved in sympathy with its character -When the trippers are out this is a most peaceful place as is the Village - Don't forget to visit the 50s era soda bar & preserved railway station - Lastly don't forget Donald's cat 'Jewie'.

Room Tip: Assume there are Premiew Rooms @ the front of the Hotel

This hotel sits in the best spot in town. The views are marvellous. My wife has an intolerance to Gluten and was well catered for. The food was very nice and the evening entertainment had a Scottish flavour. Anyone fancying a swim can use the small pool over at Mackays Hotel for £3.00 per person.

The room was beautiful and clean, the food was exceptional and the staff were very good at their jobs. Our waiter Grygory was a pleasant and very helpful young man.We rang the hotel well in advance asking for oxygen to be delivered for my husband and were assured it would be ok.We arrived to find none in our room,I asked at reception to Alastair-Grantham,who told me in front of another guest on our coach trip,it was kept outside for safety reasons. My husband came and asked Donald who was on reception about it and he said yes it should have been in our room.Alastair retracted what he told me and said yes it was allowed in rooms. It eventually was delivered.I asked the guest next time I saw him if I was mistaken he said no Alastair definitely said it was not allowed. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it.

For the safety of all our guests I'm afraid we can not allow storage of oxygen cylinders in guest bedrooms. We have comprehensive fire risk assessments that have been agreed with local fire officers. Due to the fact oxygen is potentially very dangerous in the event of a fire we store any full canisters outwith the building. Obviously the current oxygen in use may be in the room. We have 24 hour staff cover at the hotel to allow guests access to new cylinders as required. I'm sorry if this caused you any inconvenience during your stay.
On the flip side I'm really please you enjoyed your stay, found the hotel clean, enjoyed the food and the staff looked after you well. I'll pass on your kind comments Gygory.
Thanks for your feedback and recommendation.
Kind Regards
Alastair.
