Ivy Cottage was a superior accommodation - wonderfully warm, cosy and livable. We really appreciated the very generous welcome basket - oatcakes, shortbread, wine, milk, bread and butter. Angus and Fiona are very genuine, friendly and obliging hosts, and made themselves available for any help we needed. The setting of the cottage is idyllic - the view across the valley to the hills beyond from the kitchen was breathtaking, and having sheep calmly grazing right outside the bedroom window added to the sense of peace and calm. The cottage was generously equipped with everything we could possibly need to make our stay totally comfortable. It is very easy to explore Inverness, Dingwall and Strathpeffer from there, and we also had a lovely trip up the coast to Dornoch and beyond to Dunrobin Castle. We had a very enjoyable dinner at the Red Poppy in Strathpeffer. A wonderful stay, cosy and comfortable despite the very Scottish weather!
After a month’s vacation in Scotland and Ireland, this delightful cottage is #1 on our list of accommodations. It is beautifully situated with most amazing views and is extremely well equipped with everything one requires and very comfortably furnished. It is spotlessly clean and the welcoming basket on arrival is a delight filled with local goodies.
There are great walks from the cottage – visit the Standing Stones and continue over the hill to a beautiful river. It is also well located for access to the main road to the North as well as the road to Ullapool in the West where the ferries leave for the Outer Hebrides. It is close to the small town of Dingwall where there are excellent grocery stores, butchers and bakeries.
Just back from a week in this beautifully presented holiday cottage, with everything you need, even a lovely welcome pack.
Angus and Fiona both very helpful, as my husband was looking for somewhere to fish, Angus printed off name of fishery which was not too far from cottage.
Lovely views from the house, always changing with the light.
The Red Poppy Restaurant in Strathpeffer was excellent.
We stayed for a few nights in October. Angus the owner was very helpful and kind. The cottage is very clean, beautifully furnished with a lovely log burner. The owners also left us a welcome hamper with loads of goodies ( wine/ cake chocolates etc) which was great fully received.
The location is great for exploring the highlands. We never had a lot of time here but there are a lot of walks and drives around. Would love to return for a longer stay.
Great cottage, extremely comfortable and well equipped for self catering.
Wonderful views from elevated position, with great walking in hills and moors behind cottage.
Super welcome pack, and a warm reception from Angus and Fiona.
Dingwall and Strathpeffer Free Church a great place to worship and hear the gospel preached.
What a lovely place my wife and I loved our stay in Ivy cottage. Lovely views and ideally situated for exploring the Highlands. Our hosts Angus and Fiona were lovely and very helpful, the cottage was very well equipped. Can’t wait to go back
This is a great cottage. The owners are very hospitable and the cottage is so well kept. It's a beautiful home base from which to explore the highlands. It's also great to spend time at the cottage soaking in the views or going for long walks.
