The cottage itself is beautiful, and in a perfect location: lochside, great for the hills and for the (excellent) nearby Torridon Inn. I was a little bit disappointed though to be told after arrival that there was a (£15 per week) charge for the wi-fi. Wi-fi is listed as an amenity (like parking), and there's no mention on tripadvisor's booking page of it being something you have to pay extra for. Similarly, the small print (once you've arrived at the cottage) indicates that there are electricity and oil usage allowances, and that if you go over those limits you'll be charged extra. I've rented quite a few cottages in recent years and this sort of thing is quite out of step with how the industry works nowadays. I just don't expect to rent somewhere with wi-fi only to be told that I have to pay extra for it (or extra if I exceed an energy limit set arbitrarily by the owner!). If there are going to be additional charges (and I don't think there should be), then that should really be clear from the booking page. It's a bit of a shame as the cottage itself was, as I say - great.
The house is decorated to a very high standard, with everything you could need. Pauline was very informative and left us lots of information about the local area. The sceneray is spectacular. Thanks for a lovely stay.
