We really enjoyed our meal here, the fish dishes were especially delicious. The service, however, left something to be desired. Not sure if we had a new server or something, but he messed up our order twice and kept trying to joke with us even when we clearly weren't playing along. The meal was great otherwise, though.

We had dinner and drinks and both were great. The food was excellent and oozed class and effort. What really made the evening though was a whiskey tasting contest held on Wednesdays. The host was fantastic and the challenge was difficult but really fun! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a laugh and loves whiskey!

We arrived at the hotel fairly early, the restaurant was fully booked but we were told we could eat in the bar as the food was the same as in the restaurant. The bar is spacious, with small tables, not nearly as nice as the restaurant.

The service was very good, and we could order from the full menu.

Starters selection was quite tempting, including scallops, squid and more.

We ordered starters and mains, which came quickly and were quite tasty. We were quite surprised that the main courses were about the same size as the starters, which was somewhat disappointing.

The seafood tagliatelle was very spicy (chilis) which was not described in the menu, which was somewhat disappointing as we would not have ordered it had we known.

The crabcake main was very simple, one crabcake with a bit of salad on a small plate.

Overall, the meal was tasty, but the portions were small, and quite expensive compared to the other restaurant nearby.

If you decide to have dinner in this hotel, try to eat in the restaurant, as restaurant prices in a bar atmosphere can lead to disappointment.

We were in for a Scottish breakfast and some coffee while in Port Ellen on a visit. The service was nice, although a bit slow, but the breakfast was very nice.
