“Excellent!”
Reviewed July 21, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Ali and Sandy were very interesting, informative and caring hosts. They gave us a real insight into their crofting lifestyle. The rental accommodation was well equipped, spacious and comfortable in a picturesque village which was well positioned to visit lots of interesting places. We recommend unreservedly and definitely plan to return. In our opinion, best suited to mature travellers intent on exploring all that Lewis has to offer..

Ceann Bodaich is a comfortable, tastefully furnished and well equipped holiday apartment. It provides all that could be needed for a self-catering stay; the rooms are warm and beautifully decorated; the bed-linens, towelling and toiletries are all of the highest quality; the kitchen is spacious, spotless and very thoughtfully stocked with cooking essentials and some useful store-cupboard basics. The living room features a log/peat-burning stove, a library of interesting books and guides, a TV/DVD player and a radio - and the wifi (free) worked well. . The village, Tolsta Chaolais, is in the wild, picturesque west of Lewis, very near to mysterious stone circles and ancient standing stones, brochs, duns and iron-age settlements. Ali and Sandy (who also farm, organically, black-faced sheep and highland cattle) are warm, charming and hospitable hosts. They gave us good advice on local crafts, walks and sites of interest and could not have been kinder, more thoughtful or more welcoming. We wish we could have stayed longer!

“Superb hospitality”

Sandy and Ali were the most welcoming of hosts, treating two weary cyclists with all types of home made produce. The breakfast is not to be missed (home made mutton and herb sausages, home cured bacon, home made oatcakes and bread etc etc). We also had the privilege of meeting all their animal film stars.

achieved the best bed, duvet, pillows, towels, bathrobe, shower, peat fire and Home made breakfast Awards of our week long trip to the Outer Hebrides. Ali and Sandy, Samson the horse and their 5 working dogs made us very welcome; we were really impressed with the plant filled atrium as a breakfast room too. Our flat had a sitting room and a kitchen which would make it perfect for staying for a longer break.
