“Perfect City Escape”
Reviewed July 7, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

The cottage already has numerous great reviews and now that we've stayed there we completely agree. It's in an ideal location - peaceful, stunning views etc and only 2 miles from Broadford (with a 24 hour Coop) so handy for getting in supplies.Cottage itself is very clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. We loved eating and drinking at the little garden table by the water's edge--you can't let the midges drive you indoors . Robert the owner is friendly and helpful with a good sense of humour. If you've never visited an island before worth reading up/being aware of driving etiquette on single track roads as essential to avoid jams. We downloaded Explore Skye app (only £1.99) which we found very useful.

“Cute, traditional but modernised, whitewashed cottage at the water's edge”
Reviewed May 18, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

Cute traditional white washed cottage that has been fully modernised and is well equipped, including washing machine and dishwasher. Perfect for a couple with a spacious and open plan layout and stairs that lead straight up to a very comfortable double bedroom and large bathroom with separate large shower cubicle.

The location is fantastic as you are within touching distance of the water and with a south westerly aspect enabling you to catch the sun throughout the day and enjoy beautiful sunsets.

Whilst it is a fairly rural and peaceful spot down a quiet lane, you are only a couple of miles from the spread out centre of Broadford, which has a number of restaurants and cafes and a decent size Co-op to enable you to stock up on groceries (and wine!).

It is also only a few miles to the Skye bridge for easy access to the mainland. Dunvegan and the Totternish and Waternish peninsulas are around an hour's drive.

I do have a couple of minor criticisms, however. Wifi is quite slow. The TV could do with upgrading as picture quality isn't great and its very small. The two thin bath towels and single tea towel were inadequate for two people for a one week stay and I had to purchase some washing powder so I could wash them halfway through our stay. Whilst the cottage has underfloor heating we couldn't feel any benefit from it. Fortunately we had mostly good weather for our stay so it wasn't a problem but in winter you would need to use the wood burner. This means you need to factor in buying quite a lot of wood as there is only enough supplied for one evening.

We note the comments in this review but would point out what seems to be a misunderstanding regarding the underfloor heating. It is thermostatically controlled and therefore would not come on if, as you say it was warm weather. We regularly have guests staying in the height of winter who have never complained of the Cottage being too cold. Indeed, they often remark as to how cosy it is. The wood stove is not intended to be a necessary part of the heating system, but more an aesthetic feature. Many guests don’t even light the stove. A glance at our reviews from Winter guests in November through to February reveals it is invariably described as cosy. I refer to one in December 2014 specifically which I would invite you to read.

“Beautiful cottage in great location”
Reviewed November 2, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We were pleased in every way with our week in Tidal Cottage and highly recommend it. It is beautifully furnished with all the latest mod cons and is cosy and comfortable with lovely views from the windows-especially sunrise. It is wonderful to live so close to the tide line and observe the changes in the ebb and flow each day. The haunting calls of the curlew and oystercatcher are a frequent background sound, and many other birds can seen.

“Utterly perfect!”

My husband and I stayed here for a week this summer and were so sad to leave. The setting is perfect with stunning views over the bay and to the hills beyond - we would have happily just sat on the bench looking at the view and listening to the curlews, oyster catchers, geese and gulls!
The cottage itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated in a traditional style, but with all the mod cons you would need (including, thankfully, a dishwasher and washing machine). The shower was great, the bath was even better as you could admire the view while having a soak, and the loo was a loo with a view!
The nearest decent sized shop (a co-op) was only a 5 minute drive away in broadford, and the red Skye restaurant was a pleasant 10 minute stroll from the cottage.
If I had to be picky, my only complaint would be the very noisy fridge which did spoil the peace a little, if I was being picky.
We will definitely stay here again when we visit Skye, thank you so much for a wonderful holiday!

“Idylic,all we could wish for.”
Reviewed July 3, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Everything in the cottage was excellent and more than we expected. Beautifully clean throughout, lovely kitchen, table laid with wine to welcome us. Great bath overlooking the water, marvellous views. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked two more holidays there.

“A magnificent cosy cottage with wonderful views.”

We had a fantastic stay at Tidal Cottage over New Year. Having previously visited Skye in the summer, we didn't quite know what to expect weather-wise, so we wanted to book a cottage that would be a perfect base if the weather was bad. Tidal Cottage was everything we wanted and more. We managed a couple of days in the Cuillins and a trip to the Kylerhea Otter Hide, but we also spent three wonderful days watching films, playing chess & trivial pursuit, and looking for birds out of the window. The house was spotless, the owner was very helpful and we would recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away from it all. I can't begin to imagine how wonderful it must be on a summer's day!
