“Truly Blissful, would return in a heartbeat”
Reviewed October 20, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Travelling: Myself, husband and 3 children aged 7, 6 and 1

Stayed: School break October Week

Fabulous week spent at the Anchorage. Would highly recommend this cottage which is a home from home....only better. I could feel the stress from daily life ebbing away from the moment we arrived. The cottage is so spacious and the facilities provided are great (dishwasher/washer/dryer/travel cot/highchair). We were so lucky with the weather (not one spot of rain) and were out and about every day. Went to Glen Brittle (fairy pools), Reptile World (Broadford), Elgol, Kyle of Lochalsh (swimming & pirate park), Talisker Distillery, Glen Elg (ferry), Letterfearn, Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton and Kinloch. Husband also managed to climb a Munro (Bhlavin) and fished from the harbour (2 min walk if that - caught whiting, cod, poor cod and collies). The cottage is ideally situated to allow you to venture further into Skye or over to Kyle and beyond.

We had some nice meals: Plockton Shores, Kintail Lodge, Castle Moil (also known as the yes pub) and Café Sia. Chinese in Kyle is also yum (but wouldn't recommend the Indian in Kyle - uck!). We didn't venture to the three chimneys on this occasion but have done in the past and it is a nice experience as is duisdale. This time around was more a chill out and pub grub type of journey.

Highlights: ViIEWS (I could have sat in the sunroom all day), log burner, aga, bunkbeds (superb hit with the kids).

Would recommend this cottage and will hopefully be returning in the future.

“A little piece of heaven”
Reviewed September 14, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The Anchorage is a fantastic place to relax and unwind, the cottage is sat on the edge of the rocks with beautiful views across to the Skye Bridge, perfectly located for visiting both the Isle of Skye and the mainland. On arrival it wraps you up in a blanket and makes you feel at home straight away. The views from the conservatory, its better than watching the television, the ever changing colours and scenery as the tide goes in and out are truly amazing. Its not commercialised and has a lovely homely feel to it.

“A very special place!”
Reviewed September 9, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We have just spent a wonderful week at the Anchorage & what a gem it is! The cottage is beautiful & homely, & has everything you could possibly need, & is situated right by the water, perfect! The sun room was my favourite place, as the views over to the Skye bridge are amazing, we even saw a couple of seals swim by the window. The only slight problem we had was the aga made the kitchen very warm, but I can imagine it would be lovely & toasty on a winter's day. Anchorage cottage is a very special place & highly recommended!

Hi Jenny - many thanks for your kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at The Anchorage. The Aga does keep things nice and warm, - not usually too much of an issue on Skye although it is amazing how many people find the weather to be much better than expected! We usually promise rainbows! Regards, Richard.

“Peace, tranquility and stunning views”

We are back in London after a wonderful week in Skye and missing those views already. The Anchorage is a well loved family home which is very comfortable and welcoming. The owner is most helpful with advice and tips about the island and the journey to Skye. Our favourite place to sit in the evenings was the sunny room with fabulous views out to the Skye Bridge, where we saw some beautiful sunsets. (Alas, no otters but we did spot a couple of seals). Even watching the rain on the water was a pleasure! The Aga was brilliant for drying clothes and muddy boots overnight and it keeps the house cosy. My daughter loved the Nespresso machine and now wants one! The bathroom is fairly basic but we managed fine with three adults. You will need to take your own towels and a bath mat would be useful as the bathroom floor gets slippery. We are now in love with Skye and can't wait to return.

Hi Margo - Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you are home safely and that you had a good time at The Anchorage. Sorry if the bathmat was missing- I have checked this and made sure there is always one there. We do ask guests to bring their own towels but if anyone prefers us to supply them then please just ask.
Regards, Richard.

“An Amazing Destination”
Reviewed October 15, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

This was our first visit to the Isle of Syke and The Anchorage was the perfect place to stay. The cottage is more than just a 'holiday cottage' its a family home with all the comfort that you would expect. The kitchen is always lovely and warm thanks to the Aga which was great to cook on. The wood burner in the lounge made the place warm and cosy even when the wind was howling and rain pouring down in the evening. The sun lounge has spectacular views and is a relaxing place to sit and watch the otters, wildlife and boats go by. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The parking is fine for a medium size car and the lady next door gave us plenty of room to park. The owner was easy to contact and sent plenty of information about the property, local attractions and recommended place to eat and even telephoned us during the week to ensure everything was ok.

“Romantic chic seaside cottage - stunning location”

We had a fantastic time and were blown away by the setting and romance of the cottage. Inside we enjoyed panoramic views and stunning sunsets everyday from the couch! The cottage is decorated with a romantically chic seaside theme and really cosy and clean. We absolutely loved the position, perched on the rocks where we enjoyed drinks every evening watching otters and a seal go by. The kitchen was gorgeous too and incredibly well equipped, with an Aga and Nespresso machine & everything you could want. Make sure you use Richard's recommendations, saved us a lot of time and made it an unforgettable week. Can't wait to go back!

“Ideal base location”

The cottage is in the ideal position to use as your base when visiting Skye. The sun room give you the greatest position to watch the sun go down over the Skye bridge and the ships go by. We sat with our coffee in the morning and our wine in the evenings, just watching the world go by. The cottage itself has everything you would need for your stay, I think Richard has thought of everything ! Games and books, everythings there for your cooking needs. There's plenty of space for a family and a nice little garden to go sit, when the sun's out. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, the bathroom has all that's required, but I would fit a blind myself ! We fully intend to come to the cottage and Skye again in the years to come. Well done Richard, nice to be taken care of so well. The phone call on our arrival checking everything was ok was a nice touch.
