The first thing that struck me about the Rosedale Hotel was how friendly the staff were. A lovely woman at reception talked me through the Covid restrictions and gave me recommendations as to where to go on the island. The staff stayed excellent throughout and all deserve credit.

Parking was slightly tricky but not a particularly big deal, we ended up parking down the harbour by Sea Breezes restaurant (who will not pick up the phone for bookings, don’t bother trying). It was still less than a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

The room itself was very basic but had an excellent view of the harbour. Unfortunately around 4am we were awoken by the sound of the extractor fan in the room next door, which stayed on until about 8:30am when we left. We could also hear people talking very audibly and footsteps when people moved around. The fact we heard all of this in the room next door should give you an indication as to how soundproofed the rooms are. The shower was stuck on a very hot setting until all 15 stone of me had to put weight on the handle to make it tolerable. The shower tiles themselves were fairly mouldy and needed regrouting, although this was a relatively minor issue.

The breakfast was a takeaway breakfast bag which was slightly disappointing, but due to the size of the hotel and Covid restrictions, I can understand. Despite this, the bacon and egg sandwich I received was perfectly cooked and I managed to ruin a new top with delicious, runny egg yolk.

All in all I didn’t mind the stay, although the furniture was dated and the room was in need of a refurb. There were definite positives to the stay, but I’d not rush back in a hurry.

We stayed two nights in this lovely hotel that is right on the harbour at Portree. Good accommodation, lovely food in 5he restaurant and everything is Covid safe. Breakfast is brought to your room and it was lovely to eat it look8ng out to sea. Thoroughly recommend this for a stay in Portree.

Room tip: Room 5 looks over the harbour

This is the most accommodating place we have ever stayed! Kalisi and Teresa at the front desk are incredible. We wanted to stay three more days and they moved mountains to make it happen. We could literally not believe the low rate for the fantastic room we had here, compared to the other places here in Portree which charge over twice as much for a much lesser room.
We are coming back to Portree ONLY if there is a vacancy at The Rosedale. If not, we’ll wait.

We stayed here during the first week of the hotel opening during a recent business trip.

We were both really impressed with this hotel and Portree in general. Portree was getting busier and it was quite difficult finding a place to eat but is is understandable.

The hotel 's procedures are very clear and very reasonable. They sent us an email with the new guidelines which are also on the hotels website.. We felt very safe within the hotel while all our requirements were still met. The takeaway breakfast was actually really good and is a good amount of food. It is a good idea and allows us to eat in the room. We are back up late in the year and would use this hotel again. We did not pay for room ourselves but I believe it was very reasonably price.

Basic hotel, rooms very small. Prices haven't changed but service has due to covid. Restaurant closed which was disappointing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely view of harbour and good location
