“Pleasant dog friendly accomodation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2011

We chose this place because we wanted a short break on Skye with our dog. It was very suitable and welcoming and as it is located slightly off the main road there is a suitable dog walking route along the old road although it can be very dark at night. Everything was available for us to prepare our own breakfast but we brought some easy cook meals for the evening. There are a number of good places to eat for lunch withing a short car drive distance and we enjoyed the home baking at the Red Roof cafe/gallery. It is number one in Skye at the moment on tripadvisor and it was still busy at the end of October when we visitied. Also we are just about to go for a lunch at the Three Chimneys having booked yesterday. The prices are just about affordable for us on the lunch menu so are looking forward to that. You have to take whatever weather you get on Skye and it is was wet and stormy most of the time we were here so bring wet weather gear for your night time dog walks. However the sun is shining now and we are off to the Three Chimneys. Dog will have to stay in car while we dine in style. All in all a great stay in Taigh Barr at Roskhill Barn thanks to Sue and Richard.

Room Tip: The website is good and accurate which is as it should be since Richard is a website designer.

My 13 year old daughter and I arrived and started to smile right away! Sue was super nice and very welcoming!! even though our Ferry had been late and we did not arrive until after 11pm. She gave us a tour of our wonderful rooms. Two comfy rooms--one double, one twin at either end of the barn apartment. In the middle is a lovely living room and a kitchen--with a clothes washer which we were quite thankful for as we were in the middle of our two week trip and needed to do two loads. The fridge was stocked with plenty of breakfast foods and an extra goodie--Chocolate! ;) Sue checked in each day to see if we needed anything additional--but we were always quite happy.

Great shower with a view!

There is a splendid view out the front--a small garden and a loch and the Cuillins in the distance. She even showed me where I could take my evening walk..it was quite a view. Will stay here again when we return!

myself and my better half decided to get away from it all for a few nights, and luckily we decided to try the DIY B&B idea.Sue and Richard (and Coupar family collie ) made us feel very very welcome. The whole idea is a home from home, if you want somewhere to come and go as needed, without the formality of a hotel this is perfect.Sue will buy all your food and place it in the fridge ,even make you some fantastic soup and sandwiches for your arrival after a long drive.
The accomodation was ideal very homely and very clean.and guest what,"it so quiet and peaceful".But if you need places to visit it just they are just on your door step-Dunvegan Castle/gardens -Old Man of Storr for a great walk up the hill etc etc.
