We were staying at the hotel (reviewed separately) and our package included dinner. We chose the 5 course menu, but a 7 course menu was also available. We started with canapes and Talisker whisky in the comfortable lounge, with wonderful views across the Sound of Sleat, before moving to the elegant dining room.
Dinner unfolded in a succession of beautifully balanced flavours and textures, with an emphasis on seasonality and locality. The menu changes daily, but highlights of our meal included a wonderfully light pea soup with nuggets of pancetta in the bottom, sea bass, venison and a delicious lemon tart to finish. The wine flight complemented each dish perfectly, and service throughout was charming. Coffee and petit fours back in the lounge provided a relaxing end to a delightful evening.
