Spectacularly good Hostel - clean, welcoming and well equipped

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 11, 2022
The Flodigarry Hostel is super clean, super welcoming and super well equipped. The onsite manager was tremendously welcoming and helpful - washing/ drying and advice on the incoming weather. I was on the Skye Trail and camped outside, with the benefit of using the showers and kitchen facilities for a small charge. The weather was fantastic when I arrived, but the manager helpfully shared his local knowledge to prepare me for a storm coming up over the next two days. He advised me to be off the ridge by 10am the following day. He was spot on! Also, the hotel next door was very welcoming even though I was in my hiking boots and gear. Their food was delicious. A real treat.

Stayed on the Skye Trail. Firstly, the elevated view of Staffin Bay is spectacular and I was treated to amazing colourful displays in the big skies in late sunny afternoon, sunset and sunrise. Wow! Very friendly and helpful staff. Big clean kitchen and dining room. Shared toilets and showers modern and clean. I had a spacious 6-bunk room to myself. Very comfortable and warm bed. Drying room. Ample Parking and is also on the 57 bus route. Highly recommended!

This was an incredible hostel - it was quiet, clean, and in an absolutely gorgeous location. Both the common areas and the rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had plenty of room and communal supplies to use. Plus, they are committed to sustainability (recycling and composting!), which we loved. The WiFi was fast and could be used throughout the building. We ate dinner in front of the building and the view was breathtaking. The staff was friendly and has plenty of recommendations of where to visit and where to eat.

For a tent fee of 12GBP per person you get to crash at a tidy, catered for site. The facilities are squeaky clean, the kitchen is big and well equipped, the view is amazing. We planned to stay one night but returned back from the other side of the island for more.

The place was crowded (no way to use the communal kitchen) and the rooms quite dirty (dead midges all over the place). Beds were so soft it was impossible to sit or lay without being basically swollowed by the mattress...
The bathrooms were a good surprise though.

Beautiful location with amazing views. This has to be one of the best backpackers hostels I have stopped in around the world. Large clean kitchen and dining area, quiet room, small shop at reception. Touring the Islands by Motorbike means we have a lot of luggage/bike gear, so we had a four bed room which was large with lots of storage space, and very good value.
