“lovely cottage, lovely place”

The location in all ways was perfect - Kilmartin Glen is fascinating and full of interest. Do go and place your foot in the foorprint of the Kings at Dunadd. The cottage is charming, like a doll's house, cosy and with everything one could need. Angus and his son were charming and most helpful. The heating has to be paid for, yes, but it was so cheap - the log burning fire kept the entire cottage as warm as toast. Do go and explore the 'evening walk' down to the point and the old chapel. and the 'blown-up house' but wear wellies. It can get watery.

Me and my partner hired the cottage to celebrate our five years together. In the rush of celebrations and leaving morning after we didn't get a chance of writing a comment. We had great relaxing experience and everybody was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back again.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. On the 25th October we are upgrading the insulation in the sitting room and bedroom. We are putting in double glazing and a log burner. We hope to relay the original floors, sand down and varnish. So do come back and see if you approve!! Thanks again for your kind comments.

We are sorry and a little confused to receive this review. We would like to address the following -
You can see the loch (which is 400 meters away from South Lodge) and our house (which is 100 meters away from South Lodge). Our house and South Lodge are divided by a large beech hedge. The photo at the top of the South Lodge page shows clearly the position of the cottage in relationship to our house. We are having a new website for next summer so this will be made clear in the text as well. We apologise if this has not been clear enough. We have a new flat screen TV in South Lodge this year, which was there in june and we were unaware the scart lead was ever missing. We do not charge for logs and guests can use as much as they require but they do need to be split with the axe that is provided, this is mentioned on our website. Two loo rolls are provided for each let and I can only apologise if this was not the case. The sofa and arm chair are in good condition but we keep throws over them to protect them from guests dogs and then they can be regularly washed. I have not found them uncomfortable or the pillows too low in the frame but we are replacing the sofa this winter as it is a sofa bed and we need it in our house. We are aware the underfloor heating is complicated to use and have left clearer instructions. Sadly we were away ourselves over this week but arrangements were made for welcoming and over seeing the week and no one was aware there were any problems. We try our upmost to make every week a success and we are thrilled when guests keep returning.

All the cottages have activity and places of interest books issued by the Scottish Tourist Board, which is renewed each year. We also make a point of greeting our guests and discussing the local area in detail. We may need to put what we love about the area in a book as well. The sitting room and bedroom are having double glazed windows fitted this winter. The kitchen and bathroom were done three years ago, so it will be fully double glazed by April 2014!

“Wonderful location”

Returned home relaxed after a few days away in the lovely Elderline estate. We stayed in the little white 'South Lodge' cottage and as we arrived late at night what a surprise it was to find a roaring fire awaiting our arrival! Simply wonderful, scenic, peaceful and plenty of logs to keep us cosy. Will return in the future as it really was a great experience, even our dog was chilled out by the fire. Thanks to Willa and her partner for a lovely stay!
If you love the film "the holiday" then all I can say is book the South Lodge.
