We stayed a Glenhurich for 7 nights and had a wonderful stay. The lodge was perfect - large, clean and comfortable. There was a big kitchen, well equipped to deal with our large group and wonderful showers. The barn has a tennis table.
The area around Glenhurich Lodge is absolutely stunning for walking, cycling or just relaxing.
We have already recommended Glenhurich Lodge to lots of friends and we would love to come back one day.
Thank you very much !
This was the first visit to Scotland for all but two of our group and we felt as though we truly experienced the land apart from the standard tourist fare. While we took day trips to Oban, Ft. William, Ardnamurchan and other spots returning home each evening to the lodgee where there space for everyone around the table as meals were prepared, wines and whiskeys were sampled and meals shared was wonderful. The beauty of the landscape never became commonplace during our week stay. The facilities were super once we learned how to operate the washer and dryer. Thanks.
I can only confirm all the praise this beautiful lodge has received from previous reviews. The Glenhurich Lodge exceeded my expectations.
The picturesque drive there over the hills from Strontian is long (15-20min) but worth it. The kids and adults alike were all so exciting to see so much wildlife!
The kitchen is very well equipt and well thought out to support at least 12 hungry souls.
The house and spacious gardens offer plenty of space to make a quiet retreat and be alone if need be...perfect for when travelling with the entire clan ;-)
We had a wonderful time.
Thank you, Gordon!
This house is wonderful. 10 of us stayed last week, we were blessed with 5 days of glorious weather, and we loved every minute. The pictures don't do the house justice - it is very spacious and also welcoming. Set in beautiful garden and a short walk from the wilds of Scotland. We drove out to Sanna Bay one day, definitely recommend it, we'll worth the drive. We also took a day trip to Tobermory from the Kilchoan ferry. My personal highlight was spotting a pine marten. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back.
We have just come back from a wonderful family holiday at Glenhurich. 11 adults, 5 under 4's, and 3 dogs fitted comfortably into the lodge, with plenty of space and room for all that came with us in the form of supplies and equipment.
The lodge is surrounded by the most glorious country, with two Loch's and a river right on the doorstep, all much appreciated as the weather was scorching and we were able to bathe every day in one or other, or go to the little beach near Strontian on Loch Sunart, a sea loch.
The heart of the house is the lovely big kitchen with a long table that seats 12 adults (and probably more) comfortably. French door into the garden and every bit of equipment that you could ask for, including two kettles and two toasters - very thoughtful additions when feeding a lot of people.
The sitting room is much bigger and nicer than the photographs show, and has a very efficient log burner.
The bedrooms are all big and very comfortable ( great beds and pillows) except for the single room which is really cupboard sized - but still comfortable!
The bathrooms are all great - really good sized with big double baths and showers.
The garden is intriguing for small children with many little paths to explore, and the table tennis in the garage was a great addition.
We was golden eagles, one white tailed eagle, an otter, and a brilliant sighting of a pine marten, following Gordon's suggestion of putting jam on a plate outside the kitchen window! We also had a great day trip to Tobermory from Kilchoan. An hour's drive, but a beautiful one, along the ardnamurchen peninsula.
Kate Campbell provided our first night's meal from the Ariundle Centre which made the arrival fun rather than exhausting. There was lots of it, and it was very good.
All in all, it was an amazing holiday. We did have the advantage of fantastic weather, but with that came the midges and clegs, which were a bit tiresome. I recommend preparing yourself with plenty of lotions, bracelets and even hoods, and/or anti midge suits if you are going to be out looking for wildlife in the mornings or evenings in summer.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend Glenhurich Lodge if you love Scotland and wild unspoilt country. It is very remote, and that ,makes it very special.
Having recently stayed at glenhurich lodge with 11 of my family. This lodge has everything you could possibly wish for. It was very well equipped. Don't think theres anything it hasn't got. It's so spacious aswell. Ideal for big groups. Such a beautiful house, with so many lovely walks surrounding it. a very peaceful place. Overall glenhuich lodge was truly amazing. We all loved it, and we will be back. A great place to spend good quality time with you're nearest and dearest. The house keepers were so lovely. House was spotless, and Gordon the owner was so helpful. Sent me lots off information through. A very helpful gentleman. Thank you so much...... Mairi..
While it was a challenge to get there (lots of single-track roads) it was worth the journey. The cottage itself was beautiful and clean, with plenty of room for at least 11 people.
Upon arrival it was fully stocked with towels, extra bedding, toilet roll, spices, teas, coffee, etc. and even had table tennis and darts in one of the external buildings. Lovely log fire, plenty of blankets and hot water which made it perfect for the rainier days.
The only downsides were that the cottage wasn’t as remote as it appears in the photos, check out time was pretty early at 10am, and WiFi service was poor (was supposed to be 1gb per day but cut off after 400mb and did not work at all on some days) but with such beautiful scenery and plenty of books, DVDs and board games this is merely a minor inconvenience.
Thank you for a lovely holiday! Would definitely book again.
