“lovely flat with great view”
Reviewed June 1, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Nice flat on second floor which gave it a great view over the Kyles of Bute. Changes in the sea, weather and tide meant the the view from the living room window changed almost minute by minute.
Flat comfortable with all we needed.
Landlord very helpful and had no hesitation in offering to go out of his way to provide anything we might need.

“Fabulous, cosy February break”
Reviewed February 28, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Thank you for the fabulous warm and cosy February break! The views were gorgeous and scenic and our time relaxing. We saw Gannets, Herons, Mergansers and Eider Ducks out the front window, the kids found crabs on the beach in front of the apartment and we visited the beautiful and scenic Ostle Bay. There are so many places to explore. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable, the local supermarket and hotel just a stroll away, and everywhere was family friendly.

We will be back for some more this year.

“Fantastic View”
Reviewed October 20, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

The apartment was on the top floor with 39 steps to keep you fit. The view from the window was fantastic overlooking the Loch: wildlife we saw included oystercatchers, heron each morning and seals bobbing about. From the kitchen window we saw an offer, deer and hedgehogs at night...a wonderful sight.
Kitchen had all essential items, but lacked a dishwasher which would have added the extra sparkle it needed. The flat was adequate space for the two of us for the week. The bedroom was small and low ceiling with access to bed only from bottom or one side, but was not a problem for us. Heating was electric and much needed for this time of year to keep it cosy and warm. We had a lovely holiday, glad we had the car as access to go out would have been limited. The welcoming gift of red wine, flowers and oat biscuits was very welcoming and thank you for these

“Recharged the Batteries here once more”
Reviewed October 6, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Great time had by us both on another trip to Kames and Ardencraig. The walk past the town and along the path towards Loch Riddon is a fave and ideal to set you up for a trip the the excellent Kames Hotel. The local shinty team had been successful the night before so it was more boisterous than expected and great fun.

House has been fitted with an authentic looking modern fire which is idea lfor warming up after a trip out. Very comfortable generally and kitchen handy for preparing some breakfast - we cooked some dinner last time but only here for a few night this time so we just used the very close hotel - only a ten or so minute walk away then a twenty minute or so stumble back (they do excellent beers from nearby Inveraray on draught.)

Ideal place to test our new chess set - great views to be had from the bay window table over the bay below while I was winning..

Looking forward to going back at some point !

“Nice apartment in a fantastic setting”
Reviewed August 25, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The apartment can comfortably hold two & maybe two children but could start to get crowded if more than two adults. That said, the apartment is in good repair & decor, the facilities were adequate and the owner has gone to great lengths to cover all bases for his clients; this includes videos, books & games for those rainy days, and an OS map for those who want to explore.
This apartment's biggest selling point though is the fantastic view across the Kyles of Bute from the front bay window. Just open one of the sash windows, set your camera/phone on record and do a panoramic sweep of the view which will be the envy of your friends & family.

“Stunning location, tired looking apartment”
Reviewed July 5, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

I agree with other reviewers that the apartment is in a stunning location, with the beach just outside the door. The village of Kames is great, with a hotel, and Duncans shop about a 5 minute walk away.
And so to the apartment itself. It is situated at the top of two unwelcoming flights of stairs -the handrail at the top of the stairs needs immediate repair as it is very loose. The flat is well-equipped with expected items. However, the flat is very small, and I feel that it could not accommodate any more than 2 adults- in fact there are only two chairs at the dining table. Some of the windows have been painted shut, others were stuck open meaning the flat was quite drafty - and with only one heater in the whole apartment, this was somewhat uncomfortable. The bed had minimal covering and the mattress could do with being replaced. There is a second bed which would be suitable for a child only. The shower room/toilet is small, although the shower itself is a good size.
However, If location is more important to you than the actual living accommodation, this is the place for you.

Management Response
11 Jul 2014
Thank you for taking time to provide review. As per the description the apartment is a traditional Victorian single bedroom apartment of 29sqm, suitable for couples and families with young children. The fold down sofa bed in the living room is a double, although slightly narrower than a standard double bed, and the single bed in the traditional recess space off the living room is only suitable for children up to the height of 1.2m. As also mentioned in the description, the apartment provides 5 dining chairs, 2 at the lounge table and a further 3 folding. The changeover person has been providing a summer double quilt for all recent guests due to the warm weather. 2 additional warmer double quilts are also provided should the weather turn cold. The largest of the 3 living room bay windows in the living room is secured shut for child safety reasons. Of the 6 vertical windows in the apartment, the remaining 5 all provide opening bottom sashes for ventilation and emergency egress and all open and close easily. There is also a velux window in the bathroom, which provides trickle ventilation and can also be opened. We do try and provide an honest reflection of the accommodation provided via photographs and text, which we hope is reflected in the price of the tariff.
