We've booked a room to visit the famous loch long but we are verry disappointed. At first impression everything ok from the reception staff who was verry friendly to the manager who has a small Spanish accent and of course verry helpful and friendly.but when we went to the bar we wait like 20 min to come a boy and ask us what we want with a strange voice(disinterested)and we have some beers in verry dirty glasses.i asked him about it,he rise his shoulder telling that he is not the owner to buy new ones.after he go to speak with a girl and start laughing and looking at us.We feel verry humiliated. We wanted to seat on a table but we seen that all 3 table who was free, was verry sticky. And the floor was rest of food. The women's toilets was more clean than the bar.So our consumption stop there.Someoane from the staff informed us that is a nice pub near us.We went there like 100 meters and we found verry clean and friendly polite staff. In the night we cannot sleep because a women was screaming for 2 hours.I don't know who she was maybe from the staff of the hotel. Don't recommend to nobody

Nice welcome, friendly staff, rooms are fine but shower could do with re grouting. Food terrible, three starters, soup was fine with a bun which was not fresh, ran out of pate rather than telling us turned up at the table with salad. Warm wine, beef was a very small, I mean small ONE slice of over cooked beef, with a spoonful of over cooked mixed veg and three again very small roast potatoes, not enough on the plate for a child. Beer was poor, bar staff not very good at all, when speaking to the manager next day, he said they had three chefs in 6 months, nothing wrong with the beer and that was it.

The view of the loch from our window is the only good thing about this hotel.

The wallpaper was ripped in places (a previous guest had taken time to doodle on the wall beneath). There was a hole in one wall. There were holes in the threadbare carpet. The tiles in the shower were mouldy, as was the shower curtain.

Our evening meal was rushed, and clearly prepared elsewhere and reheated. The table cloth was filthy despite being paper and thus disposable. The cutlery was pitted and marked. The food itself was bland and tasteless. The atmosphere is not helped by a strange choice for dinner music: acid house.

We were not given any information about the hotel (i.e. dinner/breakfast times), nor were we informed that there was karaoke on the night of our stay. As it was, we had to listen to people singing as well as our neighbour's TV as he tried to drown out the noise himself.

There are no staff on reception at night (I went to find out what time the karaoke finished). The dinner and breakfast staff (the same people) were entirely disinterested in their jobs.

Room Tip: Avoid all rooms and stay somewhere else.

Hotel is in a beautiful peaceful location. We didn't have a loch view but a side room which was pleasant enough.
The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and our room had been redecorated with new bedding etc although I was surprised to note there was no mattress protector on the beds.
The bathroom itself hadn't been refurbished yet as still had the old pink suite. It was clean enough but was very cold as there was no heating at all in the bathroom.
Our evening meal was okay, but it appeared within minutes of being ordered (even before our drinks appeared) which shows that everything is pre cooked then re-heated which meant my chicken was very dry although the potato mash was tasty the vegetables seemed to be of the frozen bag variety.
The chocolate fudge cake and the cheesecake also tasted as if recently defrosted so quite dense.
We enjoyed the entertainment which was laid on in the bar area which was a female singer "Sapphire" aka Liz from Barrhead who had most folk up dancing.
The bar prices were reasonable and the lounge area has been refurbished although I think they should try dimmed lighting in the seated areas as this would help with the overall ambiance as it was very bright.
The breakfast was very good, the black pudding and bacon especially which made up for the poor evening meal.
The staff were all very nice and helpful.
Most people we met where there on a voucher deal ( we weren't ) so the hotel was full. We would return to this hotel when hopefully all the rooms have been refurbished and hopefully secure a loch view room this time.

Room Tip: High floor with loch view
