“A hidden treasure in a fantastic location”
Reviewed 19 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We fancied a week away at the beginning of the Easter holidays - two adults, two teenagers and a dog off to explore Scotland. Getting the boys to share a bedroom was clearly going to be a challenge but they both knew we would struggle to get a three bedroom cottage for our budget.

So we found this cottage and took a chance and boy were we happy with it! Whilst it is is a two bedroom both rooms are big enough and two teenagers were able to share the smaller twin room with the minimum of fuss. The main bedroom was also good size and there was plenty of storage for us all.

The living room offered a great tv and comfortable seating for the evenings and we were more than satisfied with what the kitchen offered.

Lochearnhead is a beautiful place, the local shop well stocked (possibly the nicest sausage rolls in Scotland!) and will provide for most of your daily needs. There are supermarkets a little further out. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink out and it is worth exploring.

We did the Glen Ogle walk which was fantastic and it is less than an hour from Loch Lomond which offers different walks, including a ferry across to Inchailloch also worth visiting Cruachan hydro electric power station and it is well positioned for Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

One of the best features of the cottage was after a long day walking in the cold, the cottage is lovely and warm. We then just relaxed watching tv or making use of the free wifi (a definite must for the boys! - as they will sacrifice some stuff but not Facebook!)

Overall a beautiful week away and we would definitely recommend

“Just what we needed”
Reviewed 16 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We found this a welcoming little cottage that had surprisingly more space than we expected. We were able to mount a travel cot in the twin bedroom but was told afterwards that they could have saved us the trouble by providing their own cot if we'd asked. Plenty of space for a little one to crawl around once we'd moved ornaments out of arms reach.

The dining table gave a view of the loch and mountains and was the highlight of our breakfast. The only regret of the cottage itself is that the fridge did not have a freezer compartment so that we could freeze the ice-packs for our cool bag.

Its location was very convenient and served as a good base for exploring both the Trossachs and west Perthshire.

“A beautiful cottage in a beautiful place”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Croftearn is a lovely little cottage, but with much more living space than you might first think. There is also a good sized garden and off road parking, but the real highlight is the stunning view of Loch Earn from the sitting/dining room and kitchen windows (and outside of course). The furniture and fittings are of very good quality, some relaxing evenings in front of the large TV on the reclining sofa after a hard days activities will make for fond memories. The Wi-Fi was also particularly useful. Local amenities such as the shop and hotel restaurants are within easy walking distance and importantly for us, so too was Lochearnhead Scout Station. If there was a slight negative it would be the location next to a main A road, but from a safety perspective for children or a dog, the garden is gated. However the positive is that you have easy access to explore further afield. A tip for a high quality meal outside of Lochearnhead, we found a great place just a few miles south near Balquhidder. The Mhor 84 motel was a little gem and perfect for our anniversary celebrations. We were also blesses with great weather, the first summer in Scotland for 7 years apparently, but rain or shine Croftearn is a great base to enjoy Scotland from. Thanks very much for a great stay.
