The hotel from the outside looks great, all cosmetic I'm afraid! once inside you discover the truth.
We were also part of the Lochearnhead Waterski club reunion, and considering that the hotel management knew that there were in excess of 60 people involved, there was absolutely no effort extended to us at all.
The bar staff were polite and efficient, but were let down badly by the catering side of the establishment.
The charge of £15 per head for the 'buffet' in the evening was nothing short of a 'ripoff' I could have done better myself from the back of the car!! and whats more for a h.... of a lot less money. It was almost as though they had forgotten we were coming and panicked at the last minute, and raided the freezer?
Would we recommend this establishment to anyone else........ no chance!!
The cleanliness of the hotel leaves something to be desired, the gents toilet in the bar would have been more suitable for fishermen in waders, that was the attire needed.

you really should think carefully before writing such a nasty spiteful untrutrhful review, you DID not book a private function, therefore the buffet was open to everyone and im not surprised there was insufficient to go around, i told the organiser that all public were helping themselves and he said its OK i have got them to pay, fine, but that did not produce any more food!
since you have not been here for 30 years may i pray to the good lord that you dont come back for another thirty !
next time if you pay for a funnction suite you will get privacy, otherwise it was your choice to hold your very posh do in our very public bar.

Echoing the previous reviewers, I too attended the Waterski Club Reunion on Sat 22nd. The buffet was frankly abysmal - poor quality, worse presentation and for £15 a head atrocious value for money.
We stayed overnight and while the room was comfortable enough and clean, the breakfast again was sadly lacking!
Disappointing all round.

A reunion for the Lochearnhead Waterski club was almost destroyed by the revolting food served. At £15 per head, I was near the last to eat, I had a disgusting Tuna sandwich ( no choice) spread thinly with Marg, on cheap white bread which we, the last 10 had to pad out with crisps !! We then had a wee bowl of what tasted like "Dog Stew, with a slither of tattie" described as Stovies.
It was possibly the worst "Buffet" I have ever had.
The hotel was so stupid as the next day there were 60 people looking for bar lunches and no way would anyone ever go back there.

I was part of a LEH Water Ski Club reunion on Saturday at The Clachan.
The buffet lacked imagination; sandwiches, cold pizza, crisps, revolting sausage rolls and satay chicken. Customers who were not part of our reunion (I thought it was a private function as we were paying and there were over 50 guests) soon heaped their plates full, which left very little for us. We were meant to have stovies later and instead got a really 3rd rate STEW!
Our organiser complained and was barely acknowledged.
I'm afraid they lost out on about 25 bar lunches on Sunday because of the quality of the food.
We certainly won't be going back there again.

We loved our stay here. We had a fantastic room with a great view of the loch and we were given a very spacious room as we had a baby in a travel cot to fit in. So thanks for that Clachan Cottage. He loved it. Lots of space for him to crawl and explore. He was also welcome in the restaurant. High chair provided. The view was excellent. The location extremely picturesque with lots of nice walks/cycle routes walkable from the hotel. We only stayed as a convenient stopover but are now working out when we can go back for a longer stay so we can do more of the walks. It felt like home.

We stayed two nights as a bunch of 6 cyclists on our way from Land's End to John O'Groats. Alan and his team couldn't have been more helpful, finding a dry place for the bikes and getting the riding gear clean and dry in double quick time. They even sorted out packed lunch and arranged for us to get some breakfast before we left at the crack of dawn on our second day there. Superb views over the loch and a really tranquil feel about the place. The building is full of character and the rooms are comfortable and quiet. The food was reasonable pub standard fare and decent value. We'd definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room if one is available.
