“Wonderful Day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2012

My husband and I celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary this year, and decided to celebrate with our families. After looking at a few Venues, we settled for The Lodge On Loch Lomond. Orginally from the area, we have lived in England for the past 40 years, so out of date with venues. We called to The Lodge while we were in Scotland last July, on recommendation from my nephew. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Sarah Patrick, events co-ordinator. When she took us to where the meal would be held, we were won over. The view from the room was beautiful.Sarah was very helpful as we discussed what we would like for our meal. By the time we had arrived back in England the same day, Sarah had sent an Email outlining their suggestions. It was perfect. We were not back in Scotland until the day of the meal on the 28th December 2011, so any communication was by Email. The meal was beautiful and generous portions. The table layout was perfect, the service was second to none, and the staff were very helpful, efficient and pleasant. It was a lovely day and everyone enjoyed themselves. We would certainly go back to The Lodge On Loch Lomond for any future celebrations. It is an ideal venue for birthdays, anniversaries and weddings.

Room Tip: We did not stay over

Visited the restaurant at Lodge on the Loch last week. The lounge used to be beautifully set out and very stylish. I understand that it has new management. The decor inside the lounge is ok but they have changed the set up a lot and added more seating, presumably to fit more people in to eat. The changes mean that not all diners can enjoy the Loch view in style. It used to feel quite exclusive and unique but has been changed and not for the better. Had nice memories of going here, wont go back in a hurry.

Planned romantic getaway between Xmas & New Year at the Lodge. Would have liked to have spent a lot of time relaxing in bed but I think the mattress was ready for the skip.
Expensive, very poor level of service, room tatty, curtains frayed, toilet seat hanging off, cobwebs in corners, chair broken, light hanging out of ceiling, mirror not secured and the list goes on. Hate to admit the more I saw the more I looked.
Stayed in the new annex with a sauna, nice idea, however the finish of the room from its build was terrible. Bad DIY at best certainly not an advert for the company who did the work or the clerk of works/project manager responsible for the quality. I would not have accepted workmanship of this level in my house.
Food at night was average at best not the fine dining experience we had been lead to expect. Breakfast was on a par with what i have received in military cookhouses, mass produced, dry and eaten in an atmosphere of a motorway cafe. Great way to spoil lovely views!
After dodging the pool of vomit outside the hotel reception at about 930 am I spoke to the receptionist about our room and she was very dismissive of our comments and the room comments card didn't have enough space to get everything on.
I would agree with Margot, Dumbarton, comment about fleecing tourists. Over priced and cashing in on location whilst not giving value for money.

Room Tip: Stay in old building has to be better than new and hopefully you don't hear the road noise.

Had a lovely stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. Paid extra for room with sauna which was nice but bathrooms are very dated and think next time we would go for one of the more modern rooms.

Service was great throughout, very helpful staff.

Dinner was included in price of stay and was excellent value. Food was good. Scallops for starter and fillet of beef for main course - and no supplements!

Setting is very picturesque - right on loch with lots of scenic walks nearby. Lovely relaxing lounge with fireplace for enjoying view and a drink! Will definitely be back

Myself and my husband had our wedding reception at the Lodge on Loch Lomond on the 10th December 2011 and we had the most amazing experience. It took us a year to plan the wedding and being from Leeds, made a number of special trips up to the Lodge. Each and every time we were treated extremely well by the wedding co-ordinators and the rest of the staff up there. Anne-Marie (senior co-ordinator) was an absolute star and even saved our bacon on the wedding day when my mum and bridesmaids had no idea how to lace up my dress! Every single one of our guests were blown away by the location and the service they received. The food was immense - even for 110 people - and the rooms fabulous. I would recommend anyone to stay here, get marrried here, eat here! We can't wait to go back.

Whilst in a glorious position, this hotel seems to specialize in fleecing tourists. We went there for lunch, for a treat. Certainly the food was tasty, but the quantities were exceedingly disappointing. One very small piece of battered haddock and a spoonful of herb mash cost nearly £12.00. My wine was served in what they admitted was a dirty glass. They need to start caring for their customers, rather than taking them for granted. If you want to pay over the odds for a jumped up snack, eat here.

Thank you for agreeing that that food was tasty & recognising what a wonderful location we have. The quanity of food on the plate is perfectly ample & allows for a starter or a dessert to be consumed without feeling stuffed.

We have never felt the need to fleece anyone & certainly will never take anything for granted.

We have just returned from a two night stay in the Carter Suite. The room was fine and the view was amazing from the lounge and bedroom. We were initially concerned as there was a very loud humming noise from the water pump room next door which sounded like a generator. This was switch off at 10pm and came on again at 8pm. not ideal for a lay in but ok. Food on both evenings was excellent and the service was very good. The staff went out of there way to help and even made us something that was not on the menu at our request. The spa was small but nice and we could not fault anything really.
