The location is great but it needs to be refurbished. They have replaced the televisions with flat screen models but it needs a good cleaning and some TLC. The breakfast in the hotel dining room was very good and cheaper than the Denny's down the street

The first impressions while taking the freight elevator from the in-house parking deck down to the lobby is not good: Dirty carpets, damaged wall paneling, the elevator misses to line up with the floor. Reception by the front desk staff is very nice (maybe also because I was upgraded to an Executive Suite, maybe it helps when you are a Priority Club member). The bathroom is tiny, just like they used to be when the hotel was built in the late 1960s, early 70s. Floor height of the room is not generous and the windows allow you to follow the life on the street. However, the hotel provides two packs of ear plugs which is a welcomed touch. Mattress and lines are very good, the room is nicely furnished. Of course the location is excellent: Two short blocks from Beale Street and Main, where you will find nice restaurants and bars. That the outdoor pool opens only at 9 a.m. in the morning isn’t nice. Don’t miss to cross the street and watch the duck parade in the lobby of the Peacock Hotel at 5 p.m.

Room Tip: Get an end room, away from ice machine and elevators.

Thank you for taking time to post about your recent experience at our hotel. We appreciate you being a Priority Club Member! I am glad we were able to upgrade your room to an executive edition for you and happy that you received a welcomed reception from our staff. Sometimes it is the little things that make a huge difference, such as taking the time to thank a guest for selecting our hotel or by supplying ear plugs, just in case. We appreciate you and hope to see you again soon!

I love the location of the Holiday Inn select in downtown Memphis. It is a short walking distance to Beale, and directly across the street from the famous Peabody hotel where you can watch the ducks at 11am and 5pm each day. It is also near many great restaurants, and the Orpheum theater. The hotel is a very reasonable price compared to others nearby. It was clean, and safe. Our room was very standard, no frills, but it did have a nice view of the Peabody. It was really all we needed. The staff was helpful, but seemed a bit understaffed at times (line at front desk). The elevators could be slow, but we managed. We also had trouble getting our keys to work in the door. Those were just minor things, and did not take away from our great experience. I will definatly return in the future.

Location is great and easy access to Beale Street. However, if you don't want bed bugs living off of your body by sucking your blood when you're sleep on the mattress, find another hotel. Although this is supposed to be a non smoking hotel, the folks across the hall were smoking weed. The manager was able to knock off one night's pricing during checkout. When we discovered the bed bug and make contact to guest services to inform them of this little nasty creature traveling up and down the bed, we were told that nothing could be done about the issue, and that we were free to check out. I am sorry, but the hotel service was extremely GHETTO! Never again!

Great location, staff very helpful and friendly, we over looked the Peabody hotel, food good and room comfortable and clean. It is just far enough away from Beale street to not cause any problem with noise. A good hotel for the downtown area of Memphis.

This is the only hotel I've ever stayed where the room is equipt with ear plugs. There seems to be a tendancy for having the trash dumsters emptied in the middle of the night, and there is no regard for those trying to sleep. That said, I stay here fairly regularly becasue of the proximity to Beale street and surrounding resturants. So - be forwarned - if you are a light sleeper, this isn't the place for you. Parking can be cramped, and elevators are slow. Bathrooms cramped as well.

Room Tip: Stay away from the Union street side

Thank you for taking time to tell others about our Holiday Inn Select Downtown Memphis. As with most downtown properties, there are many activities that take place and are sometimes not as quiet as we would prefer. We like to be prepared and proactive; therefore, we provide ear plugs in the guest rooms for those who are light sleepers. You can also request a room on the back side of the hotel which tends to be a quieter area. Again, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your business and hope you will continue to stay with us when traveling to Memphis.

Originally booked an executive suite, arrived to the hotel and figured out the service elevator from thier garage to the lobby was out of service, so we had to lug our luggage upstairs. Then talked with the hotel staff and they said our executive suite was not available even though we had booked it for two nights. When staying at other hotels whenever i decided to stay another day or so, I had to take a differant room due to the rooms i had been in already being booked. The staff was not apologetic and I can not believe this, but we asked to get rooms with a view and the staff agreed. So, we decided to go up to our rooms. We had to wait for an elevator due to the ones that came down to us was loaded with staff with laundry carts and of course, no room for guests.....talk about putting your guest on the bottom of your priorities. This hotel is dated and not in a rustic way, but in a 70s/80s too lazy to upgrade way. When we got to our room, the view was of a delapitated building, that to be honest I really didnt want to look at. We called down to the lobby and of course, they then tell us that the rooms we were told they did not have a room with a scenic view(btw this was on a mon-tues) I then asked for a security box to store some valuables and they gave me a old beated and bent security box....and I was fearfful that something bad would happen, so i put some other items in there instead. I was correct: When I took the box back downstairs to give to them they got the numbers mixed up when i said this is box number 6 and it was actually box number 5.....really? One of the main reasons I asked for a suite was for a fridge to store medicines, i called down to the lobby to see if they had extra for our room and of course no, and i explained why i needed it and they could care less so i had to soak my medicines in ice water and change it several times, because the air conditioner in the room did not keep the room cooler than 60 degrees. The next morning we decided to eat at the restaurant and the service was lousy there was an older lady employee slamming china dishes into a bus tray making tons of noise in a tiny dining room. The buffet was 13.00 per person for guests and i could have ate better at a mcdonalds. The food made my wife sick all day. Thanks mainly to the sweaty eggs. Later in the day we stopped at the bar to enjoy some drinks before a ballgame. We walk in 5 minutes after 2, and was told by patrons that they close at 2 oclock.....what???? The woman who was the bartender never really even looked up. Could care less. The next day when it was time to check out, we had a bill under our door, we were charged with the same price we had booked the executive suite, when my wife called down to the lobby, she spoke with a man who said hold on, and gave the phone to a woman who stated "I havent even set my stuff down you are going to have to wait" I do not recommend this place to anyone, the staff doesnt care, the hotel is without a shadow of a doubt the worst I have been to period!
