This restaurant is outstanding! The food is delectable with she crab soup that is unparalleled anywhere on this planet, ambiance that is welcoming and staff that are hospitable and knowledgeable of their eats and alcoholic concoctions, as well as an extensive wine list. The perfect way to spend an evening in Memphis and more importantly on Beale Street, if you can find the hidden entrance ...

Everyone loves a "secret" entrance. There is no signage at the entrance to Itta Bena. It's above BB Kings. The restaurant has a sort of speak easy feel to it. We had dessert and alcoholic coffee drinks. The pecan pie was average and of course the drinks were fabulous.

Our son recommended we eat here, and he told us how to get there or we might not have found it. It is above BB Kings, and we had to go into BB King"s to find out how to get to the restaurant. The atmosphere was quiet which was a surprise after coming from the very loud BB King's below. The piano player was really good, and we enjoyed this special touch. I had some of the best She crab soup I have ever had!!!

We were very excited to eat at Itta Bena during our time in Memphis. We found the "hidden" staircase that takes you up to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is lovely. We had a window table and enjoyed looking down at the people on the street below. Our server was very good and the live music was a wonderful touch. The only problem was that the food was quite disappointing. I had the salmon and it was just fair at best. My husband had the shrimp and grits and he said that he has had much better. We wouldn't go back. Our bill was over $100.00 and the meal was simply not worth it. Ambiance counts for something, but the most important thing is still the food itself.
