Found this jewel 2 yrs ago when my fiance and I were on our way to New Orleans. Took the kids to Memphis this weekend and Bryant's did not fail to wow.

Counter order authentic country ham and biscuits!!! Live in Illinois but takes me back to my Kentucky roots!

I don't think I'll be eating for a couple of days after enjoying a great breakfast at Bryant's. The food is traditional southern! Fresh, hot, and served with a smile. My kids loved coming here and really enjoyed the cinnamon bread French toast. The pancakes where very good with lots of options, and the southern breakfast included all of my favorites. An overall wonderful experience.

My wife and I left our home about 9:30 last Saturday morning with the list of errands and the intention of checking off another Memphis culinary staple so we could say "Been there, done that, move on". After a 21 mile drive, we arrived to find the parking lot full and customers were quickly filling up the adjoining restaurant parking lot. We enter near the "Order Here" spot to find that we need to join the 40+ people in a line snaking through the crowded seating area. As our visit progressed I saw this line grow to 60+ and extend out the back door. This is were the comfortable shoes come in as you will be standing for about 20 minutes. The regulars assured us this was normal and we would understand after the meal. Amazingly tables were vacated at the same pace that patrons placed their orders before searching for a seat. You place your order and pay IN CASH (no plastic or checks) and your order will be delivered shortly. My wife had the $7 Breakfast Special (2 eggs, 3 homemade biscuits, grits, country gravy, choice of bacon, city ham, or smoked sausage), and I had the $9 Everything Omelet (3 eggs, sausage, bacon, city ham, tomatoes, onions, and american cheese plus the grits, gravy and 3 more biscuits). It was all great and I was not hungry the rest of the day which never happens to me! Can't wait to go back. Locals have told us that its not as crowded on other days, but doesn't that spoil the fun of it? Just remember to eat up and get out cause someone is looking for your table!

It may not be the most convenient location for you, but it's worth making the drive once in a while to have breakfast here. We went on a Saturday morning, around 8:15. You wait in line and place your order at the counter. They bring the food to you, and the wait is not long. My wife really enjoyed her ham, egg, and cheese biscuit. The ham was a little salter than she would have preferred. My ham and cheese Omelette was a generous size with plenty of ham in it. Could have used a little more cheese, but overall was a very good Omelette. The hash brown patties were a little to Mickey D for me. Service was very good. Parking was not a problem. We felt safe. One negative is the limited seating that they have. It may be hard to get a seat if you don't go early. It looked like they recently installed some outdoor seats which would be nice depending on the weather. We will definitely go back when we want a good breakfast at a good price. Our tab for two was $20.

I'd echo some of the other critics who said the breakfast was bland, except that I'd add that it was still good. More than the food I think The experience is worth stopping by - IF and only if you appreciate the kind of vibe that comes from a bustling hole-in-the-wall clearly enamored by the locals. I got there at 9:30 on a Sunday and waited in a short line, but by the time I left the line went out the door and down the sidewalk. I think it would be tough to wait in that line with little ones, and if you're expecting something revolutionary for breakfast you'd probably be disappointed that you waited so long for what amounted to a somewhat unremarkable breakfast. I had an egg and cheese sandwich with bacon and because I was there I had a plate of biscuits and gravy. The gravy was really plain - no chunks of sausage or anything, but then I'm no gravy connoisseur. The biscuits were good, dense and doughy so if you like light fluffy biscuits they might not be for you. Overall you'll get a decent breakfast for a good price and you'll have a common point of reference if you ever meet someone from Memphis - because I think everyone knows this place. It's cash only.
