We were travelling from Canada to New Orleans with some stops along the way. Memphis was one of the stops. We planned on staying close to Graceland so we can take a tour stay one night in Memphis and then move on to the next destination. We booked this months ahead of time and the website pictures and descriptions looked good and so was the price. We booked and paid at time of booking. First mistake. We arrived and were immediately turned off by the look of the outside. it was run down and just didn't feel right. we entered the lobby anyways and gave it the benefit of the doubt. Second mistake. The inside lobby was worse than the outside. The guy behind the desk was not friendly and proceeded to tell us the kids were not allowed in the pool after 5pm...adults only...what he meant was his seedy looking friends were going to hang out around the pool and the grounds doing shady things and didn't want kids and families around. At this point we didn't see any other part of the place except the front of the building and the lobby...again being way too trusting and trying not to be difficult people, we tried to look past these things and just stay one night since it was already paid for and then move on early the next morning (It was already around 7pm at this point). we got our room key and got back into the car and started driving towards our room which was upstairs around back. As soon as we turned the corner from the front of the building to the back, we stopped the car and looked at each other and both said the same thing with our 2 kids in the back seat....."there is no way in hell we are staying here no matter what we paid"!!!. The pool area had strange looking guys hanging around it......the room area looked like a crack house. People hanging around everywhere.....cars coming and going after talking to some guys for only a few minutes.....we turned the car around and went down the street to stay the night at the Knights Inn (not great, but compared to what we just left it was a 5 star). DO NOT STAY HERE....IF YOU ALREADY PAID, TRY AND CANCEL AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!

This would be Al Bundy's motel from Hell.

Nothing works. And when I say 'nothing', I mean just that. The room smells of stale smoke, the restroom fixtures haven't been cleaned. I hope I don't have to do a #2, because that will REALLY suck.

I'm sleeping ON TOP OF the bed sheets, because I'm not taking any chances.

Stayed in quite a few cheap hotels in my life and this one is by far the worst one in Memphis.
Staff is rude and refuses to go out of thier way to help.
The shower looked like it was on the verge of falling apart and the beds so low of quality I wouldn't allow my dog to sleep on something that bad.

This is possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in - the room smelt of stale smoke, it was dirty and in bad condition, the door looked as if it had been kicked in and overall it felt very unsafe. As a result, we had a bad nights sleep and left at dawn, happy to have got out. It may appear good value on the website, but once you arrive and realise quite how rundown it is, you will wish you had paid a little extra!

After getting off to a rough start and having to switch hotels. We stayed at the Budget Host Inn on Airways. The rooms were very clean the pool was clean and it even had an attendant for the guests. The security was great the front desk there was always someone there to assist you. There are vending machines for late night snacks or u could heat take out in the microwave. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be staying there again on our next visit to Memphis. And the prices were very reasonable.
