On our journey home from Anglesey we needed tea and cake. The signs telling us The Ugly House was coming up belied what a fabulous find we were about to make!
Inside this Hagrid looking house was the warm scent of scones and cakes, cheese and bread.
A very warm welcome, not rushed and very cheery. We opted for cake, cheese toasted and the best tea I’ve had for a very long time.
Faultless service,food and tea.

'Ugly' I would say, unique house, was a delightful tea room. We had passed this place the day before and made an effort to return. Thankfully we got one of only a few spaces in car park. On this sunny day I ordered the 'meat salad meal and what a plateful, 4 slices of baked ham, 3 slices of roast beef, 3 slices of roast turkey, a whole pile of salad along with chunky bread and butter. Had a lovely pot of tea with it. My son chose the soup which he devoured along with his chunks of bread.
All in all a sumptuous lunch. Yes a bit pricey, but great quality and helpful service made for a great visit.
Had a walk around the paths just beside house, with a little work this too could be a bonus for this venture. A exhibition above tea room, all about bees, was informative and well laid out.
Try this place, lovely location and food.

We loved this place - only had coffee and cake but had a lovely menu and the other food we saw brought out looked very good. Nice little museum/info room upstairs about bees. Gardens nice even at this time of year. Well worth a visit!

A strange building on the side of the road, calling itself Ugly House and offering tea and cakes ..... almost Hansel and Gretl, but there’s no witch inside although if you ate your way through the menu you’d struggle to get out of the door!
A cuppa was the desire and so we pulled off the road at this little wayside place and were absolutely amazed! Very small inside but what food and what staff - spectacular. We chose the welsh cakes and toast with our tea - sufficient for an army, let alone 2 people and when we spotted the sandwiches........ you’d need to run all the way back up the Llanberis Pass to work off the calories! Smashing. So good, you’d want to keep returning. Just be aware, the toilet really is a little hut at the top of the garden! But it all adds to the experience.........

After a morning of forest and lake walks we staggered into the Ugly house seeking refreshment and sustenance. The tea ( pot of ) is wonderful stuff and came in a respectable receptacle with china cups to ensure satisfaction. Home made soup with big chunky bread was followed with Salmon fish cakes and mighty Quiche decorated with goodly salad, crunchy coleslaw and Onion chutney. We managed to squeeze in a mighty wedge of chocolate cake and after engaging in happy smiley conversation with the talented purveyors of great food we staggered home happy. Can heartily recommend and will be returning soon.
