Visited The Royal Ship for an evening meal and what can I say, absolutely fantastic!

Excellent and attentive staff, these guys were run off their feet and did not stop for a breath. Ensuring everyone was well looked after and creating a great atmosphere.

The food was plentiful and presented with great care from the chef it seemed! I opted for the 10oz rump which was cooked just as I asked with a generous serving of chips, onion rings and peppercorn sauce, all you would expect and more!

I enjoyed a pint of dizzy blonde which hit the spot too, I will be back and can’t wait for the next time.

We have eaten here a few years ago several times and always had a really good meal.
However when the food arrived on the table this visit we didn’t even recognise it as the same place . What a huge disappointment. The plant based burger I had was cold in the middle and soggy . The chips were awful and the onion rings were burned . It tasted dreadful and was barely edible .
My wife had scampi and chips . The scampi was overcooked and rock hard . The chips were soggy .
The portions were tiny . My Nephew received a burned pizza which was again barely edible .
The standard and quality of the food was very poor at best . We will not be eating here again .
A complaint was made to the management.

We chose Nachos which we had to put together ourselves at the table with components in little pots. Nothing home made all from bottles or packets. Pre grated cheese only partially melted. Minced beef and onion rather promised Chilli. Staff saved the embarrassment of poor feedback by not enquiring whether we enjoyed our meal. Made us move a jacket off the chair on the adjoining table which seemed unnecessary given that the table was not being used because of COVID distancing. Staff neither friendly nor unfriendly - just not bothered. Food neither good nor bad just no effort made to do anything to make it good. All in all ordinary and not worthy of another visit.

has you say you ordered Nacho's ? putting garments on other tables means we have to clean them also, during covid i would think people would understand but not everyone gets it especially the one's that feel privileged.

Just moved to the area and been waiting for covid restrictions to lift. Came here for light bites and drinks and had a very pleasant time. The wines were good and the food tasty and not expensive. The staff were really friendly, chatty and efficient too. Currently its quite hard to avoid plastic glasses and places struggling to adjust to the 'new normal' but we were made very welcome here. The outside seating area has a great view over to Cader Idris too, if you position yourself right! One for us to return to.
