When one walked into the cottage seems like entering into another era another time zone.
One needs to stay there to experience the magic that comes out of it.
5 of us with a 3.5yr old and a 6 mth's old baby. The cottage is a gem . Each room has an attached bath. Two of which has long baths. There are 2 stairs one leading to 2 rooms, the other to the attic.
Ceilings are low, doors are small & low, which makes us wonder whether those days people are much smaller than now. Very well equipped kitchen, oven comes with 8 cyclinder rings. 2 ovens, 2 grills. Better than any ovens I have come across.
We did some cooking and enjoyed the whole cottage. There is the basement with a washer & dryer, further in the is also the pool room. An exit door leads to the garden. Once out of it you can have a great view of the lovely stream that runs by the cottage.
During Summer one can hold a lovely bbq in the upper garden.
Would love to visit this cottage again ....
So I'm sitting in the lounge on our last night at Llys Cadwen and not looking forward to leaving in the morning! The past couple days here in Dolgellau have been great not in the least because of this wonderful property. (Excellent sunny weather helped too!) Liz and Gavin have really put in a lot of thought into making this place as perfect as it is. Especially love the small touches throughout the cottage such as the fender guitar in the dining room and the old style edison bulbs used for lighting. Detailed information on the property and surrounds sent to us before our arrival really contributed to making our stay exceed expectations.
In our group are 5 adults and 2 kids (3.5 years and 6 months old). The cottage accommodates all of us comfortably, is clean and warm. Short walking distance from the main square where all the shops are. The fully equipped kitchen is excellent. If you're in town on a Thursday be sure to stop by the market in the Free Library for some local produce to whip up a great breakfast! My daughter loved the garden out back next to the stream. The pool table and board games in the basement are a great touch as well.
Dolgellau itself is a nice little village well placed to use as a base to explore the Snowdonia area. Plenty of good restaurants for a night out, although some of them are slightly on the pricier side.
If I had to nitpick: the wifi coverage didn't extend to the whole house and was mainly confined to the areas immediately next to the lounge (nothing much you can do about that with the thick stone walls); only street parking was available (although plenty of space can be found across the stream - its only a short walk); and the floor in the master-bedroom toilet can get pretty wet if you're taking a shower (no curtains).
