Me and my partner were all set on going for a nice walk in Coed Y Brenin on a lovely Saturday morning, we decided before setting off to get a coffee and a bacon sandwich each when we walked over to the counter we waited at least 5 minutes to be served and only then did someone come because a woman in the back shouted for one of the counter staff to get a move on, when someone finally arrived there attitude was awful and not welcoming at all this blonde girl could hardly crack a smile and had a can't be bothered attitude as if serving us was to much work for her! we will not be visiting again because none of the staff took appreciation of us being there and made us feel very uncomfortable, they were all very miserable and all looked hungover a horrible stay i wouldn't recommend anyone coming here unless you like staff that treat you and look at you like a piece of dirt.

Our first impression of the visitor centre is organised, clean and well presented. We quickly found a walk to go on and left soon after, the walk (Red) was pleasant and varied, there was a few occasions where the sign posting could have been a little better but this shouldn't put you off. After the walk we stopped for lunch, the food came quickly and was of a good quality for a cafe. The following day we came back to hire some bikes, these get booked out very quickly so book in advance. The bikes were well maintained and of a high quality, you are also supplied with a helmet and a basic repair kit. The trails are excellent and offer a range suitable for different skill sets and fitness, there was a few occasions where the routes were not sign posted and we had to stop and ask, this should be fixed as the routes vary in length. Overall it's a great place, if they fixed the signage issues it would be perfect..... Oh and the blonde girl in the cafe on the second day 28/08 in the morning had a bad attitude and/or a hangover, we saw her almost throw a plate at a customer and everything was to much trouble.
Don't let her put you off.

The food in the cafe is really good, and the hot drinks appreciated after a day in the forest. The activities they run in the holidays for children are excellent.

Now don't get me wrong; I am all for a gander down the Welsh mountains however on this occasion this leisurely wander turned into a death march. Contrary to our belief of a 7 mile walk around the highlands the Volcano trail resulted in us walking a less than cool 10.5 miles according to my satellite navigational device. This extra distance was the result of inadequate path markings through the latter part of the trail where one was left to guess as to which direction one should take. This was NO laughing matter as dusk was drawing in. Our walk was also rudely interrupted by an undisclosed disturbance in the forest with a roar much akin to that of a bear or other such beast!

Amazing views, picnic areas with tables, walks of various lengths and abilities incl wheelchair access, playgrounds, climbing wall, mountain bike hire, restaurant/cafe with panoramic, distant views.

Very helpful staff, lovely food. Either sit and enjoy the location, or challenge yourself with extreme mountain biking. From 9 - 82..... We all found things to interest ourselves. Well worth a visit.
