“Fantastic break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2011

Stayed in the prestige lodge with private hot tub - beautiful lodge a real home from home. Kids didn't want to leave. Great idea having games console included - kept my son occupied at quiet times. Swimming pool, sauna and steam room also first class. Husband enjoyed the gym too. Lovely walking areas and views too. A proper restful chill out time. Already booked to go again next year.

Stayed here from Monday to Friday and was pleasantly surprised to what the park had to offer. We stayed in pitch 57. The caravan had all that was needed, TV, DVD, Gas cooker, Microwave, etc etc. When we arrived at the caravan they gave us a welcome pack which included sachets of tea/coffee/sugar and toilet rolls. The caravan was spotless. There was really only one small issue i.e. noisy boiler which did keep us awake. However though once the reception was informed about the problem they sent out their maintenance engineer who in turn fixed the problem. Will mention that some of the caravans have no parking beside them so I would ask if your caravan does or does not. The parking for those that do not is only about a 10-15 metre walk away.

The restaurant from 5pm-7pm was called madness menu. Which in turn meant that 2 main courses were £10 and the childrens menu which included a main course and ice cream and a drink was £5. Also if you wished a dessert they were were doing a deal, 2 for £5 I did however have to ask about these as they were not mentioned and was given the menu for the full price desserts instead. Drink prices were reasonably priced £2.50 upwards for bottles of beer. it was costing about £4 a round which was for a childs drink of milk, pint of tuborg and a soft drink. The food was really good.

There is a swimming pool and a baby pool as well. The pool is closed to children from 10am-11am every morning and if there was any activities in the pool it was also closed.i.e. On Thursday it was closed (for our daughter of 4 to use) between 10am till 12:30pm. Right beside the pool there is a licensed cafe which opens at 9am and you can have your breakfast there if you wish and lunch. The other side of the cafe there is a soft play area, chairs, TV and table tennis. So all in all a lot for all ages to do in close proximity. However though there is a down side to all this, It is only open from 9am-5pm (Mon-Thur). After which the pool, cafe and soft play area all close. Which was a bit disappointing.

They do have a gym and a sports hall which you need to obtain a pass from the reception. I cannot comment on these as we never used them but there did seem to be adequate equipment.

There is also a games room which hosts a variety of games which includes a pool table, air hockey, 2 lane ten pin bowling (some of it needed maintenance). The games room over looks the sports hall which I forgot to mention doubles up for the climbing wall. There is lot of activities to do for children of all ages there is a leaflet about what these are and times of each activity.

They also have a laundrette which is open till 10pm every night. They also have a shop and to me this was a big disappointment. It was never open the whole time we were there. Looking at the opening times it was Fri 5pm - 7pm and Sat and Sun (unsure of times). So when we arrived thinking we could purchase some basic essentials i.e bread, milk, cereal we were sadly mistaken. I know it is out of season but it is also the Scottish October week, which means there was a fair amount of families on site that could have needed something. If we were at least told about this prior to arriving we could of at least picked up something en-route. Time we found out it was too late and had to get up early and go in search of a Morrison's the next morning.

There was play area's outside but alas the weather was bad so we could not make use of those facilities but II will say looking at them they look well maintained.

All the staff were there to help in any way they could. I can not praise the staff enough.

I know this is a really small thing but it would of been nice to have some leaflets in the caravan of places of interest around the local area. I picked them up from Morrison's.

We visited mid week in October so the park was quiet, but that suited us! A great setting surrounded by hills and woodland, very relaxing and close to ameneties - but far enough away so you didn't know it! A great base for exploring, the park was very clean, tidy, and quiet. The caravan was close to the play park and pool/bistro/bar/play-araea and they were all excellent facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful.I would recommend to all!

Room Tip: Go for a fewer berth for extra space!

Just got back from 4 days at Brynteg Lodge. We booked a short break and spent 4 nights (Mon to Fri) in a log (Number 168) with a private hot tub.

We found lots to do both on and off site. The facilities around Brynteg site are fantastic, shop, swimming, gym, sauna, bowling alley, parks, lake, pub etc etc.

The lodge itself was very clean and very spacious (only my wife and myself but for upto 6 people would be nice). The private hot tub was great plus someone from site came around every morning to clean and check the chemical levels in the tub. You get everything in lodge you need for a self catering holiday

What you get;
Cooker, Pans, Pots, Plates, Utensils, Corkscrew, Casserole Dish, Dishwasher, Cheesegrater, TV, DVD, Freeview, Wifi .. the list goes on and on ..

What you dont get;
Dishwasher Tablets, Bin Bags, Toilet Paper ..

Nothing major missing, overall the holiday lodge is still VERY well equipped.

Room Tip: Cabin Number 168 has an excellent location and a private hottub

We stayed at Brynteg with four children aged 18 months, 3, 5 and 7. Most of the activities were not suitable for the youngest three so we couldn't do much as a family. We went for a walk around the park following the Forest Trail but that took us all of 20 minutes. The pool was a leisure pool so the children couldn't have fun jumping in. We were also restricted as the pool wasn't open for children before 11am. Our caravan was very dated and not cleaned to a high standard. When I was checking seating area before we left I found a previous occupant's nail file and other bits so it obviously wasn't checked. Our bed was very uncomfortable, we could feel the springs sticking out of the mattress. The double quilt was also not adequate to cover two people comfortably, luckily we'd taken our own fleeces.
I wouldn't stay here with young children again. The restaurant was very poor, we only went on one night and the service was dreadful. I had to ask for the children's drinks, they brought drinks for the adults but none for the children so we couldn't all have a drink together! That set the tone of the whole meal. Our food was very average for the price. I had to ask three times for the children's desserts and in the end I gave up and we left. The drinks and desserts were in with the meal deal for kids but the service was so bad. We left Brynteg early, mainly because of the discomfort of the caravan. Our caravan was no.59.
On the positive side, a really good facility for us was the play park as there were two, one for toddlers and one for older children. The park was also very well cared for and clean.

Had an excellent weeks holiday with our two kids (aged 3 hrs and 18mnths) as well as us and their grandparents. The log cabin was ideal and very comfortable though we had been allocated the cabin directly behind the reception which has the hot tub positioned around the side of the cabin instead of out the back which made it a bit awkward for checking on kids etc (a monitor solved that). The swimming pool was excellent and, along with the soft play area, it kept the kids amused on the wetter days. Loads to do for the kids and the outdoor park really nice. Nice restaurant and very reasonably priced. Most of the staff were very friendly apart from one receptionist who made us feel a bit guilty for arriving too early to check in despite travelling from Scotland. We werent too enamoured that the shop was only open at weekends. That said, the complex is really nice and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: Best to ask for a cabin away from the reception area. The others by the lake had brilliant views and...
