We stayed in Feb 2013 for a couple of days - Pilots cottage is perched on a high spot overlooking Amlwch Port harbour and the Irish Sea beyond, and has a real sense of exposure to the elements! Inside the accom is of a high standard, and really cosy. We particularly appreciated having the gas fire on after the children had gone to bed: we just sat and listened to the wind howling off the sea, which was very atmospheric!
The kitchen is a real standout feature of this place though: it has a giant semi-circular window with direct views of the sea and the rugged headland and loads of space / facilities for cooking. I really enjoyed just sitting with a coffee watching the sea, the weather, a few boats here and there etc etc.
Amlwch Port itself isn't a massive draw - there is interesting stuff there like the local museum on the port, but otherwise not much else. There are however great things nearby Red Wharf Bay, Bull Bay, various pubs etc, and the countryside being a little wild in nature is one of the draws of this place!
We'll be back - many thanks!More
