Lovely friendly pub and B+B.
Real ales and good food at a good price.
In a very nice location.
Comfortable accomadation with plenty of space and a quite nights sleep.
Good breakfast although a little bit slow in coming was worth waiting for.

Ended up at Machynlleth at the end of a coastal rail trip from Pwllheli. I used to stay at the Winnstay hotel but this had changed a lot and they weren't serving food. We tried the White Lion and were very impressed with the sandwiches, tea and efficient friendly service.

Spent a couple of nights here, can't fault the friendly staff or great food. The only negatives were (old building ) all the stairs and my matress dipped in the middle. .not comfy. ....came to look where my ancestors came from, have to admit with all the stunning scenery around, I lost a bit of my heart to Machynlleth and the surrounding area. ..

On the spur of the moment my wife decided that she would like to visit Machynlleth market that is on a Wednesday. As we live a fair distance from Machynllet we thought it would be a good idea to put up for one night and after doing a search we opted for the White Lion where we have eaten on a number of occasions.
Good choice. Our room proved to be clean and comfortable and breakfast next morning was excellent.
Only downside was climbing the steep and endless stairs that wouldn't be a problem if we had been younger..

WE are frequently driving south thru Mach in the evening and have started to have an evening meal there.
WE have found the Welsh Beef burgers to be very tasty and the chips home made and well cooked.
We will continue to visit and enjoy the atmosphere etc, a "REAL" pub, sadly often missing from larger towns and cities.
Please note. When approaching the town clock from the Welshpool direction, STOP at the "T" junction. A friend who has lived locally for some 30 years drove over it at a very slow speed and was booked for not having stopped completely!
