A locked bike store out back was great - and the number of bikes there showed that this is a popular hotel for bikers (they were mostly mountain bikes given the area).
Covid is taken seriously here with masks, social distancing, toiletries, tea and coffee etc are given to you in a paper bag at reception.
Welcome was friendly, room was clean, shower was great. Breakfast was served efficiently and was very good.
All in all - good stay

A one night stay at the Wynnstay was as good as ever. Comfortable single room and excellent dinner outside in the courtyard. Well set up for the new normal with plenty of space when needed. Very happy to see them back

We stayed 1 x night...2 elderly, 1 x patient daughter and a Westie dog! Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. Lovely old Inn full of character and charm. Breakfast was a delight...tasty and cooked beautifully. Our waitress was funny, helpful and efficient. We found the rooms clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Dog friendly everywhere,
wonderful atmosphere - Would definitely stay again. Thank you lovely Wynnstay...x

Room tip: Remember its an olde worldy Inn - lots of stairs!

Despite the very great efforts of the very friendly Italian lady working full tilt in front of house, this was not a great stay. Although clean, our rooms above the bar were run down and tired, the food was poor (salty sauces, frozen veg etc). I love nothing more than a quirky country inn but this was not that. Of course these are difficult days, and it may be that in non-covid times there is a proper chef in the kitchen, but the rooms definitely need updating to make it somewhere you'd want to visit again.

Yes, these are difficult times but obviously this is not the sort of place for you. Our head chef has been working through the crisis, as have a few of us, as we looked after NHS and other essential workers who needed to stay. He and his team are true professionals. Our head chef is part of the Welsh National Culinary Team. I shall tell him that you don't think he is a proper chef, best that you don't do that in person. Frozen veg? Do please tell us what these are as we never have them - ever - we wouldn't know what they taste like. Many of our vegetables come from very local growers, some come from a little further away but not far
The Wynnstay is a very old hotel dating back 250 years and we do not want to update to being a bed-factory.
It's a sad fact that one cannot please all of the people all of the time and another sad fact when customers do not say anything at the time but then post this sort of review.
