Simply lovely...one feels more like a family friend than a guest...the main building is charming, one expects to meet Ms Marple around every corner (my only disappointment was that none of the three ghosts appeared). The grounds are magnificent, the rooms comfortable, and the owners and staff friendly and helpful. Should you happen to be there on a weekend, do not miss the Sunday Roast. Located at the southern edge of Snowdonia, just a wonderful place to stay.

A beautiful setting quiet beautiful gardens with wonderful views over the Welsh countryside. The hotel is pet friendly dogs are even allowed in the bar and dinning area on request. Staff are amazing as is the food. The rooms are large and spacious we stayed in an annexe room where you could walk straight out onto the garden and sit at the patio chairs and table provided

Stayed here for two nights.Beautiful surroundings but accommodation quite dated and in need of reburbishment.Evening meal was good and plentiful and there is a wide choice of starters, mains and desserts and very reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and the beds comfortable and the hotel is ideally situated for photographers wishing to photograph planes circling the Mach loop which is only about 30 mins away by car and it is easy to watch the planes from the room balcony if you don’t wish to climb a mountain.Overall not a bad place to stay if you do not require luxurious accommodation. It would have been appreciated if the hotel had supplied bottles of water in the rooms especially during the present hot weather and also there were no tissues supplied but overall good value for money

Room tip: Choose a room with balcony for best views

We were in the area to visit the Osprey Project and needed a bed for the night. This hotel suited our needs. Not too pricey (£90 inc breakfast for 2 of us). As I have some walking difficulties I needed a downstairs room and we were given room 17 in the annex.
I would echo what other people have said about thin walls in here. Or rather thin ceilings I think as we heard every footstep above us. But as we didn't spend that much time in the room this was not really a big problem.
The room itself was a big surprise. The photographs on the hotels website don't really convey what you get for your money.
We had twin beds which were extremely comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe space. The biggest surprise was a sort of sitting room. This isn't really shown on any pictures. In it was a sofa, small table and chair and a dresser. We had a back door (in addition to the front door) which enabled you to go and sit outside (table and 2 chairs provided) and just enjoy the lovely grounds. We sat here before breakfast with a cup of tea and watched Jays, Woodpeckers, Robins, Blackbirds, Thrushes and Treecreepers. Also squirrels.
A word of warning about sat navs though...ours took us to completely the wrong place. Might be an idea to print off some directions.

This is my 3rd visit to this hotel and it is so charming on the outside. The staff are so friendly and the rooms are very clean and charming. The food in the restaurant is very fairly priced and the quality is very good indeed.

I would recommend this hotel highly if staying in Machynlleth.
