Not quite sure about Howards Restaurant. I sang it's praise to a friend, what a fantastic steak & ale pie with proper shortcrust pastry, the best around. Only to be served what I describe as a stew with a piece of puff pastry, to represent a lid. I refused the dish and was really disappointed.
To their credit they have reinstated the pie served as a pie with real pastry.
I do think the pricing is on the high side, I have to say it is not a restaurant that springs to mind when thinking about where to go to eat.
On the other hand, to grab a bite to eat whilst shopping, is a different kettle of fish.
Overall I can't say anything bad about Howards, but then, I am not it's biggest fan.
It is spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly, the food ok. Give it a whirl and make your own mind up. I guess its horses for courses
