We have just had a fantastic 2 night stay at the Farm with our 4 year old. We stumbled across this gem by chance 2 years ago & were so impressed that we have returned. The owners are clearly devoted to providing the very best & everything about this place reflects this. The cleanliness & maintenance, the quality produce for breakfasts & the gardens etc are impeccable & mean we will return & recommend. Would definitively recommend Lake Vrynwy whilst here, 13 picturesque miles around the lake with bike hire (or by foot if you have 6 hours in you like we did yesterday haha)

Thank you both for a excellent review, it was a pleasure looking after you all. The weather made it a wonderful weekend, and to walk round the lake with your 4 year old son is definitely a achievement. Look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Kind regards
David and Jane

Tynllwyn is a large Victorian house just out of Welshpool with terrific views from (large) (and warm) front bedrooms. It’s comfy. Feels very traditional and unpretentious. And the hosts - David and Jane - look after you well. Nice home cooked food for evening meal if, like us, you’re a captive audience because you’re walking (don’t know where the nearest place to eat is hit it’s not near! And after a day of ODP you won’t want to venture out believe me). David is happy to pick up from the ODP crossing point and came over quickly, plus dropped us back to continue again. And personally takes the bags so you know they’ll be there when you arrive wherever you’re heading. Recommended for ODPers.

We used to live in Hampshire, moving to the Welshpool area in 2010. For the last six years, an old group of our motorcycling friends have taken over the house and some of the self-catering cottages at Tynllwyn Farm on a September weekend, when we lead them around the gorgeous hills, dales, mountains and valleys of this part of N.E. Wales.

We have just been lucky enough to spend one night with David and Jane (delightful hosts, and can't be bad if we share first names!), as a 'treat' from the group: we can now see why the group don't want to stay anywhere else when they visit...

Tynllwyn Farm is amongst the very best B&Bs in the U.K. (and we speak from very extensive experience!): a fabulous location, impressive house, a huge room and bathroom (the size of the two combined is larger than our small Welsh cottage!), top-class fittings, and a stunning view across the valley from the windows.

We can only echo some of the comments below with regards to the power shower and comfortable beds: there was absolutely nothing with which to find fault.

Only one of us experienced the delights of a full English breakfast in the morning (wonder which one?!), but the plentiful supply of hot toast and a poached egg was much appreciated, too.

The special 'extra' provided as we were celebrating our birthdays was also much appreciated ~ thank you both.

Booked this at the last minute for a weekend in the Welshpool area because it had good reviews and we were not disappointed. The house is a beautiful old building, lovingly cared for, full of interesting furniture and high on a slope overlooking the valley through large Victorian sash windows.
Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom spacious and one of the best instant electric showers I have ever come across. Most B&B's, if fitted with an electric shower, seem only to give a dribble of hot water.
Good quality breakfast with lovely fresh fruit salad available. Would have preferred to have plain yoghurt available though (I should have asked I suppose but it seemed there was only sweetened fruit yoghurt to be had). Local honey was so delicious that we bought a couple of pots.
Owners lit a fire in the guest sitting room every night which was a treat.

Arrived footsore at Buttington Bridge after a long days walk and were thrilled to be promptly picked up by David and driven back to the farm. Even more thrilled when we arrived and saw what a beautiful house and estate it was. We had a large corner room with views across the valley, beautifully furnished. David gave us tea and scones in the lounge and we were made very welcome. Dinner that night was one of the best we had while on the ODP, with three lovely courses and wine, well worth the very reasonable prices charged. Breakfast the next day was equally tasty and hearty, and we briefly met David's wife Jane who is the chef and gave her our thanks. All up this was one of our most pleasant and memorable B&B stays while walking.
