We love this place and have been there 2 times already. The overhaul feel is great. It is an interesting mix of simple accommodations with high esthetic and design sensibility. The staff is very friendly and present to all requests. Our kids played with the owner's dog and felt free to run up and down from the room to the reception area and restaurant. The restaurant is also one of the best table in town and you can tell they care about it. The only downside is the noise at night from the street and early roosters. Well worth the trip.

Great, rustic and comfortable design boutique hotel. Not luxurious, but there is a luxurious feeling about the place. The staff are super friendly, the beds are super comfortable, and the onsite restaurant serves up great organic food with locally sourced produce. Highly recommend this place.

Everything from the arrival at the airport and personalized treatment, kindness, and caring of the staff is amazing.

I️ got some bad coleslaw from me Rivas bbq joint and these guys were like naturopathic physicians, in their knowledge of ginger tea to settle stomachs after a long night of FP from elsewhere, and it happens even to the locals. Their recommendations of where to eat to avoid such maladies was also very useful.

The chief chef, Calixto, and Letitia, as well as more from around the world, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Argentina, are all artful. If you’re lucky enough to be here in December you’ll get to taste their dinner menu.

Usually the Bistro Organico, the in-house restaurant is open for amazingly restorative breakfasts with everything not only organic but made with love, experience, and flair. All of the staff here really care about their work, and they do it great.

Can’t say enough about this place, second visit, this time with family, and will be back for more.

Thank you guys!

Dear John W,
Thank you for taking the time to send us such a great review, we are glad our ginger tea worked for your ill. We always give our guests the best recommendations to avoid situations that can ruin their Holidays. Thank you for highlighting our Bistro, which as you mentioned now it's open for dinner, hopefully next time you will be able to enjoy having a delicious dinner with us, such as you did for breakfast.
It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with us, and we cannot wait to welcome you back soon.

Best,
Giraly Flores Isiordia

Hotel Cielo Rojo is a warm, welcoming, walk into a library of art, books, global treasures that greet you with an eclectic embrace of old Mexico. Petite in size but grandiose in charm, this hotel is located just enough off the main street of San Pancho to offer a true return to a life more simple, perhaps even a few decades or more back in time. Between the suspended mobiles of driftwood & rocks, cinema posters of yore, objects d'art, an amazing boutique of jewelry, textiles, ceramics and more, you can also sample their own tequila to make your arrival perfection. An additional bonus is the hotel organic-based culinary wonder of a restaurant, Bistro Organico. Whether you are a guest at HCR or not, this is a must experience as Chef Calixto will delight your palates with his divine menu. Located in an enclosed courtyard beyond the entry of the hotel, the open concept kitchen allows you to take part in olfactory overload. Each morning the scent of freshly baked scones would permeate the entire hotel drawing you down in anticipation of sampling the flavor of the morning. Your stay includes coffee or tea (you can order a capuccino for an additional charge) and the Cup of Life (fresh local fruit, homemade granola and yogurt, drizzled in Tapalpa raw honey) which is enough to get you started but also offered is a full menu for those in need of a bit more fuel. We found ourselves enjoying hours-long morning breakfast gatherings as the courtyard itself lends itself to creative inspiration, reading a book (they are abound in every crevice - so if you forget one, no worries), or just watching the bees buzz. There is no hurry here so if things get busy, just enjoy the ambience. Wherever you need to get to will still be there. The staff is friendly and helpful (if you have some spanish chops that is a bonus but not necessary). Gisela, the owner, and Calixto, the Bistro's Chef, have created a most unique step into charm, delight and wonder. They are almost always on sight and happy to sit down for a chat and share their adventures and philosophies of Cielo Rojo. Our group was a mix of several generations, and a lot of little ones. They were embraced and felt so at home. We love pets, so the dog friendly policy buoyed the home-like atmosphere (shout out to Pedro, the resident perro de casa!). If there is one reason to visit San Pancho, Hotel Cielo Rojo is it.
