Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort

My cousin had his beachside wedding there, the best thing about the hotel is the lobby.
We tried getting a drink from the bar at the restaurant on the property. It took 20 mins for a bartender to get to us to place a drink order.
The elevators are small. The shower made a loud noise when you turned on the 2nd showerhead and the water drained slow. Housekeeping didn't even show up one of the days, so that left us with a nasty bathroom.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a renovated room.

We got 2 rooms on our stay for 1 night on our way to Key West. One room was great and had been recently rennovated. The 2nd room was very old looking and did not even have a window so it was like you were in a cave. Both the sink and the shower were clogged upon arrival and it took some time for housekeeping to show up. (not sure how long b/c we waited for over an hour and then decided to go out to dinner).

The lobby area is very open and nice. Bellmen were friendly and hard working. We had no issues checking in around 4pm and it took less than 5 minutes. Valet prices were only $6 more than self park and was worth it. We ate lunch at the poolside grill and the food was very good for what they offered.

All in all I was pleased with the hotel, but was a little soured with the one room. Had both rooms been like the rennovated one we would have been estatic. Had both rooms been like the cave with no windows, we probably would have been really dissapointed.

Room Tip: Confirm that your room has a window if you want one.

From the checking time terrible our checking time was 3pm we got there at 6 and on top of that we waited more than an hour to get the room. The hotel was extremely crowded, the room was not cleaned two days in a row, someone vandalized the car and broke the driver side window, we adviced the hotel manager and she just took a report and said that she was going to pass it to the general manager and that he was going to give us a call and until now we are still waiting. They are no security cameras on the parking lot site, we had to look for a place to get the window replace and then pay $18 for VIP parking per day. On top of that we paid $15 per day for the resort fees which it included the housekeeping. To get to the breakfast at the hotel grocery store it took more than 10 mins. We hardly used any of the hotel seats because it was always busy we did go int o the pool but even that was always filled. In over roll this hotel was terrible and the managers are worse, it was crowded.

The bad reviews will leave you to question a decision to stay at Newport or to look elsewhere, no doubt, and we were fully prepared to leave if the horror stories proved true. However, our recent trip could only be better if we had more time. Upon a very early morning arrival at the Newport, we were greeted instantly by bellmen who offered to hold our bags until check-in, 5 hours later. And that service was indicative of the overall professional, pleasant, accommodating service of the Newport staff whether at the front desk or by the equally courteous waitstaff at breakfast, at Coconuts and at Kitchen 305.

The chef at Coconuts is a master - the burgers are fabulous and this guy does grill it to your liking! A great lunch spot in this large tiki bar, restaurant, poolside, was a must. Beachside accommodations were great and services were led by another gracious team of pros who provided help in setting up the tiki cabanas and lounge chairs. The tiki huts were $25 a day - aaalllll day! - well worth it! Lounge chairs and towels, free. Poolside entertainment included great live music and even bingo games for small prizes.

Our room could have had a better view but it was clean, the bath was newer, the fridge and microwave plenty big, the iron and board very convenient. Requests for extra towels, hangars, were fulfilled immediately! Trouble with a key? Help was at the door, asap.

The lobby is beautiful - busy but not frenetic. There are a few interesting shops which were welcoming even when we browsed. The Newport is close to bus lines, making a trip to South Beach or the malls, convenient. Kitchen 305 is a great restaurant, so it was our choice to have dinner there 2 nights. Staff gladly provided take home - or in our case - take "upstairs" and supplied us with plates, silverware and napkins!

The Newport Beachside is a true resort. I don't know who wrote the bad reviews - I didn't see anyone NOT having a good time!

I just returned from three great nights at Newport Resort. But let me tell you, I was very concerned what this hotel was like after reading so many negative reviews. I almost cancelled twice. The staff was accommodating, gracious and very friendly. No long lines at the front desk as so many reviews complained about. We asked for a later check-out which they accommodated at no cost. They lobby was beautiful. We did have a bare minimum room which was nice and clean. We didn't have a great view, actually it was over the lobby roof. We could see the ocean out of the chest high window. The windows were supposed to be sealed shut. We were lucky though, one of the seals on the locked window was broken, so we were able to open the window for fresh air. I also got window cleaner and sat on the roof and cleaned the windows. A little unorthodox but a clearer view! It had a microwave and a refrigerator. The restaurant in the hotel, Kitchen 305, was great. They serve a healthy portion, so much that we wrapped half and had it for lunch the next afternoon. That's where the fridge and the microwave came in handy. Our waitress also supplied us with plates and silverware. Watch for their daily specials!

The pool was large and the water clean but a bit too warm for "cooling off". Plenty of lounges, tables and chairs. Also they had a large tent and an awning area with couches and tables for the people who didn't want any sun. There was live music and games every day. We ate at the Tiki Bar every afternoon. The burgers were large and cooked to perfection. Just remember, no matter how small the bill is, the 18% tip is included, even if it doesn't show it.

Their beach is huge. We rented the huts @ $25./day. Not bad. Better then getting a sun-burn. We also had lounge chairs (no cost) down by the water. Their beach staff is helpful and always with a smile. Their jet-ski rental was right there too. $80./half an hour. $115./45 minutes. They are in the process of removing their pier, so there is construction equipment. There wasn't much noise though. Maybe when they pound the steel columns in, but they were removing the pilings when we were there. It's got to get done so what else can they do.

We didn't rent a car so we used public bus. The "S" and the "#120" bus (different bus stops) are about a 45 min. ride to So.Beach, 15 min. ride to Aventura Mall (There's a Macys!) Our flight home wasn't until late, so we checked our bags with the bell-hop for the day with no problem. So overall, our stay there at Newport was very good. Keep in mind it isn't a five-star hotel. So you'll see some carpet that could be replaced and some water stains. And also, this is a time -share resort, and though they don't interfere with you, you'll see their time-share staff walking around with their customers. One more tip: Ask the desk for a breakfast voucher. Maybe they'll give you one maybe they won't. But it's worth asking.

Room Tip: Rooms 420 and up on the south side sit right on the lobby roof. Room 430 you won't get a view...

We just returned from a fabulous stay at The Newport! The hotel was beautiful, the staff wonderful, and the food was delicious! We had a modern two bedroom, two full bath suite....more than enough room for a family of four. Our view was beautiful...the beach, palm trees, beach huts, and two pools. Wow!!!!
We ate at all the restaurants at the hotel, and fell in love with Kitchen 305! The menu is amazing, filled with delicious options for all courses. We ate at 305 on The Lobster Night and left absolutely satisified and stuffed!!! The service was amazing as well.
We spent our days enjoying the large pool, food and Caribbean music. Great tropical vibe!!!
Overall, this was a terrific travel experience, and we would recommend the resort highly. My only regret is that we did not have a chance to visit their Aveda Spa. It looked so modern and relaxing!!!!!

I was planning a trip for my family, and i wanted it ti be memorable. I chose the Newport due to its decent price and the pictures on their website. Well as soon as we got there i had regrets. The lobby is always packed and the two parrot don't really help the cause. The breakfast was a challenge every morning. I had to wait 40 minutes on several occasions to get the breakfast voucher for my family. The room is dated, smelly, and the tvs did not work. For a family of four we had 1 bed and directly next to it another bed. It was cramped. The "kitchen" was not passable for a frozen dinner. Hallways were very dirty, with the carpet needing a good cleaning. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone with a family, much less someone who is going to be in the room frequently.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else
