The rock formations glow in shades of orange and yellow and red. It is just beautiful! First trail I took was from halls gap. There was nothing much to see along the way but what made it special was the sunset; and we had the pinnacle to ourselves. It was late November and as we were going up from 5pm, we ran into people coming down already. We stayed for the whole duration of the sunset which was again, stellar! Got back down at 9pm. Pretty dark but the sky was clear and stargazing was a good water break time. It probably took us 3.5 hours roundtrip with our pace from Halls Gap to Pinnacle.

On my second time, we started off from wonderland carpark. The highlight here is the "Grand Canyon" of the Grampians. It's just a short stretch of beautiful rock formations. The rest of the hike at the end of the canyon was quite hot as we did it late January. Not much shade, but along the way you'll find the "Cooling Chamber" which is a good pit stop before the climb. We did this trail to pinnacle for 3 hours round trip with our pace.

The third time was just last Easter weekend, peak season. We started at Sundial Carpark this time as Wonderland carparks were full. This is probably is the easiest and the shortest among the 3. Probably 1 hour each way. But it was hard not to stop as the last stretch of the ascent promised beautiful rock formations along the way. I enjoyed scrambling through rock formations just for fun haha. This trail doesn't require scrambling. You get to have a full view of Wartook reservoir as well.

What I don't like about getting to Pinnacle on peak season is that it gets really crowded. There is actually plenty of space and we didn't bother getting into the balcony as there were good spots around that gets you a better vantage point of everything, and good photo ops as well. ;)

Overall, Pinnacle is probably the commonest place everyone goes to. But aim to go there for sunset. Don't forget your water and lights!

We undertook this walk in the autumn, mid-week and we didn't meet many other walkers. We started in Hall's Gap by the campsite. The walk was well-signposted and the paths were clear and easy to follow, although some fitness is needed as the path is quite rocky so you need to take big steps in places.
All along the path were huge rocks which were very inviting to climb, and the scents of eucalyptus. Wonderful views made us stop all the time for photos.

At the top, the pinnacle itself is protected by a solid fence, but it was so windy that even with the fence we did not want to spend more than a minute up there! Walking down through the "Grand canyon" and Silent Street provided more rocks and somehow we never tired of looking at the amazing formations. The Venus pool was different again, with quiet pools and running water.

The walk took us the expected time of 4.5 hours including a lot of photo stops and a bit of a walk to our hotel. We are used to walking, two 50+ and a 21-year old. I would definitely recommend this walk.

We set off not really knowing what was ahead of us on this walk to the Pinnacle. We were definitely glad we met the challenge of this walk, ..... the track was really interesting, and the view from the Pinnacle was amazing. Totally recommend for people who are after a nice challenge.

We set out from the Wonderland carpark. The walk through the Grand Canyon and "silent street" are the challenging areas but you just wonder at the magnificent rock formations. Make sure you don't rush, but indeed pause frequently to take pictures and admire the scenery and ruggedness of the area. When you finally get to the Pinnacle, you will marvel at the grand views up and down the ranges taking in Lake Bellfield and the Halls Gap township. Its really worth it !! Don't forget to wear sturdy footware, have plenty of water and use sunscreen if its warm. Don't put it off, just do it.

Took the path via Sundial carpark and it took about 30 minutes to get to the Pinnacle. Absolutely worth the hike and drive up. Yellow arrow markings on the ground are easy to follow.
