Staying here was an accident: we had heard about the Daylesford area of Victoria and an Internet search chanced upon this gem called 'Mollisons', not at Daylesford but at Kyneton. Attention to detail is the first thing you'll notice, from the beautifully decorated room with sumptuous bed linen, the antique decanter of sherry and delicately cut glassware. The modern bathroom is equipped with a heated towel rail and the huge shower area is welcoming after a day of exploring the area. The bed itself is unbelievably comfortable, and certainly is the best bed we have slept in. The gardens out the back are immaculate and add to the charm of the place. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, suggesting wonderful eateries in historic Piper Street. This is a special place and well worth a visit.

We stayed in a King room for 2 nights. The rooms were very nicely done. The room had all the expected amenities - bar-fridge, kettle, coffee, tea etc. Bathroom was a decent size and clean. On the second morning, we left the room at about 9am, returning at about 4pm. To our surprise, the room was not serviced. I would have expected the rooms to be serviced for the price that we were paying. There was no mention on the web-site or by any of the staff that the rooms would not be attended to. Not a big issue as we only stayed there for 2 nights, but I think that the price-tag is a bit steep for the service and accommodation. I think it is probably best to only stay one night, however I think that you would be able to get accommodation elsewhere in Kyneton without the "designer" price-tag.

As the other reviews note, Mollison's is an old NSW Bank building - two storeys facing Mollison St and several rooms in rear buildings in the garden/parking area. We called Mollison's at the last minute (to escape a neighbour's all-night party) and were able to get the last room. This was a decent sized room, with a King sized bed, antique sideboard (holding kettle, iron, fridge, etc), HD TV and a huge bathroom (probably 50-60% the size of the room). There is no air-conditioning which can make the hottest nights uncomfortable - but several fans were provided and were effective.

The decor is stylish and interesting, and the surrounds are very peaceful. Everything on Piper and Mollison Streets is within a 10 walk. With so many venues nearby for breakfast, lunch and dinner - we had no issue with there being no breakfast on offer here. Yvonne was particularly helpful showing us around and offering recommendations for dinner - her suggestion of Flouch's was spot on.

Room Tip: Room 2 for a private porch in the quiet garden.

Flew down from Sydney for the Spring Carnival and alway excited to head out of town for the Kyneton Cup.

Four of us made a 2 day stay of it and booked Mollisons' large upstairs apartment. Welcomed by the most delightful lady, couldn't do enough for us, highlighted all the lovely things to do around Kyneton including a restaurant recommendation for dinner. Then left in peace to enjoy a fabulous girls' stay in this huge 2 bedroom apartment - loved the space, loved the decor, the welcome package left for us, but mostly sitting on the old fashioned balcony sharing a local wine and watching life go by. Slipped into a hot bubble bath, jumped into bed wrapped myself in the fluffy doona and slept like a baby.

Apart from backing 3 winners at the Kyneton Cup, day, the biggest win was staying at Mollisons! We have already booked for 2012.

Room Tip: Owners showed me through the building - all rooms look fantastic. Don't forget to drop in to Mo...

My partner and I wanted to get away for a quite weekend - Mollisons is just the spot. Our room had a large deck in the secluded and beautiful rear garden of this magnificent property, where we sat and sipped champagne before walking to a nearby restaurant.

The owners have renovated the old bank building with great style - our room was tastefully decorated with a combination of antique and modern furniture and the bed gave us the best sleep we have had in a long time!

Highly recommended.

The location - right in the heart of beautiful Kyneton - is wonderful. Our room was modern, private and superb, and we wish we could have spent more time enjoying it; 2 nights would have been better than one.
Deb was friendly and helpful, guiding us to restaurants in and around Kyneton. She is a gem.
Breakfast is not part of the operation....that was a negative for me, 'though I have to say that the cafe recommended by Deb was brilliant - I just wish I could remember the name of it!
Deb and her business partner run a retail business at the front of the building, so they are not fanatical about the accommodation dimension of their business. We were/are ok about that, but people who want 100% dedication may be disappointed.
We loved it, and will be back - for 2 nights next time!
