Review of Mr Morce

Mr Morce
Ranked #13 of 41 Restaurants in Sorrento
Price range: US$7 - US$43
Description: A bright, breezy, and just a little cheeky, eatery and bar for visitors and locals to enjoy! Sourcing local wines, succulents and produce, Mr Morce is open from 8am till late Wednesday to Sunday. Why Mr Morce ? Staying with the local heritage and the fact that we are locals, we wanted to embrace a theme around part of our historic building. After some significant research we found that Mr George Morce was perfect to create our restaurant and we engaged Samantha Eades Design & Ewert Leaf to bring the interiors to life. Mr Morce was a local, and adored, Sorrento identity in the late 1800's. As the local stonemason specialising in the use of limestone, George contributed to the building of many recognisable landmarks in Sorrento. Notably, his handy work can be seen in the original Sorrento Police station of which he became a regular guest after many joyous visits to the Sorrento Hotel! He also worked on the Koonya, the Atheneuem Theatre and ‘Eastcliffe’ property. Our bar and indoor/outdoor fireplace, built from local limestone, has been constructed in recognition of his valuable contribution to the local architecture. Mr Morce brings together local young yet well experienced talent from the Pensinsula with our chef Tom Anderson and Manager Ben Annison. Tom’s passion on a plate and culinary expertise is enjoyed in our Australian cuisine menu. This has been influenced by his extensive travel throughout Japan, South America and Europe. Tom is big on using natural produce that grows on the peninsula like succulents and salt bush. With over 20 years experience in the industry, Ben’s desire for optimum service and aim to create the best Sorrento dining experience for you is felt the minute you walk into the bright, light and airy restaurant. Ben and his team will ensure you receive the best attention whether you are enjoy our Healthy start Breakfast, relaxed lunch or dinner menu, or wish to pop in for a drink and snack. Family friendly and locally focused is our aim.

Dined here on Sat night. For entrée I had the cured kingfish and hubby had the pan seared scallops. We both enjoyed our entrees – good serving size and delicous combo of flavours. For main I had the smokey lamb ribs and hubby had the spiced lamb backstrap. Again we both enjoyed our mains. My lamb ribs were tasty and the meat fell off the bone and melted in my mouth, just the way ribs should be. Service was friendly. Place got quite busy/full so make sure you book beforehand. When we got the bill we were also given a loyalty card for a discount when we return so we will be back to try other menu items.

We had breakfast here Sunday morning and they were under the pump, 3 staff had decided not to turn up, this can happen to anybody in the food industry. They worked tirelessly to service a very busy cafe. Yes, we waited awhile but apologies were given and discount at the end due to our patience. The food and hot coffee were worth the wait. The decor is tasteful and light, very pleasant. For those who walked out, sorry life is so busy for you. This Is a great place to go, away from the bustle. Good luck Dr Morce see you next time.

Mr. Morce is a standout in the Sorrento restaurant scene. It's off the main street and would be hard to find if one was just walking by.
We booked which I think people should do as I imagine in the summer it will get very busy.
The food quality and presentation are very good, however, the prices are at the top end, so it's not a place for budget diners.
They have a new outdoor area which should be a hit over the summer.

Excellent coffee and breakfast in a delightful, bright cafe in Sorrento. The service was excellent. The new outdoor area will be so pleasant in the warmer weather. Definitely recommend.
