I wanted to really love this place, I really did. It was very quaint and rustic with lots of potential. It has a pretty nice location right on the Medina river and has lots of outdoor space for eating, chilling, building and watching a fire, watching the wildlife, and even taking an outdoor bath in a bathtub if that's your thing. The little caboose is very charming and I had no trouble with the space or the amenities. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5 is that despite all the wonderful things this place has to offer, it has started falling into that cycle of downward disrepair that many places like this end up getting into. The owners are pretty much only paying for the clean up and prep for the next customer and are ignoring things that get old and need replacing, like moldy old shower curtains, or loose boards on the stairs going down the river, unclean walkways, a fresh coat of paint here and there, etc. It wouldn't take much really, to get it into tip top shape. Until then, it'll be a 3 in my book. I would recommend this, but with caveats: prepare for a little more rustic than charm.
The setting for this property was awesome. The caboose was a blast to stay in.
The appliances, bathroom, kitchen and bed were on the old and needed to be updated side, but the setting made all of these no matter. We enjoyed the property and setting.
