I've never been to a resort more peaceful than Gaia. From the view of the waterfall below to the incredible food, Gaia delivered in a big way. We did some hiking (don't miss the trek to Big Rock Falls!) and even did the day-long tour to Tikal in Guatemala. The rooms were much larger than I expected and just lovely!

The only negative I can find is that they did allow smoking, which wasn't in the restaurant, but did happen in several of the common areas.

I did a lot of research before planning this trip and I am always a little skeptical but the description of Gaia is 100% accurate. The reservation process was fantastic and Zennia who booked our stay was extremely patient. Very easy to deal with when I had to make some major last minute changes to our stay. Calvert was waiting at the airport as promised and we were on our way within minutes of getting our luggage. He gave us an amazing history lesson on the 2 hour trek to Gaia. We stopped for a snack and a few minutes to stretch our legs. On arrival, we were met by the amazing, Nigel, and a cocktail. After a brief tour, we were escorted to our room where our luggage was waiting. We enjoyed meals al fresco with the sounds of the 5 Sisters Falls below. The lush grounds were full of flowers, birds, and butterflies. The staff was amazing. We felt like we were staying with family. Freddy, Lucely, and Daren took care of us at the bar and in the restaurant. Superior service! Food is fresh from the garden on property. Mangoes right from the trees! Rudy and Calvert took us on the cave canoe expedition and to Caracol. Absolutely stunning and we learned so much history. We never felt rushed during the tours. Snacks and lunches on the tours provided were excellent. We booked the Reef and Rainforest package so meals and excursions were included which made the trip even more stress free. There is no AC but I found the fan was sufficient to cool off the room. Not a tv in sight and WIFI is limited on the property so you can really disconnect. There are bugs but it's the rainforest. Bug spray and repellent coils were in every room.

Room tip: Be aware, bugs will get in your room. You can hear the Falls everywhere on the property.

Amazing experience like none other. The staff was great. We will never forget Gaia. The restaurant sources 70% of their ingredients from the onsite organic farm. We swam next to waterfalls, biked, ate well, and recharged.

We stayed at 2 places on our trip to Belize to get the full jungle + beach experience. Gaia exceeded all expectations and we highly recommend it for folks who like being surrounded by nature.

We stayed at the Waterfall view lodge(“river”) and it’s a 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for us and our college age son. The views from the balcony were of the jungle and the waterfalls.

The food and service at the restaurant were amazing- there a plentiful vegetarian options made from farm fresh produce which were incredible.

We drove to Gaia which gave us more freedom to explore the area - we visited Xunantanich and inland blue hole on our own (no tours needed).

One thing to note Gaia is in a remote place there is nothing for miles on end so make sure to pack carefully (personal toiletries, medications). Also when it rains there will be bugs and bug bites - that’s just part of being in such an amazing natural location but it’s something to be aware.

Overall HIGHLY recommend Gaia for its location to properly appreciate nature in Belize and for the amazing staff and impeccable attentive service.

Gaia is a special place. Remote in the jungle. The falls are beautiful. The overall property is nice as well. There’s a good restaurant and accessible bar. If you’re staying a long time, it will get repetitive. 3 days is more than enough. Big Rocks Falls is a must see close by. So, there’s no AC’s in the rooms. I’m shocked no one seems to complain about it. Mind you we were there in July. The room did cool of to like 72 at round 4am, but it wasn’t comfortable prior at 8-10pm.

Dear Ryan, we are happy to know that your overall experience with us was great! While Gaia Riverlodge is Green Globe Certified and also hydro powered. We try our best to keep our sustainability goals for a better environment which is the reason for no Air Condition in the rooms. Fortunately, most evenings the temperatures drop giving a cool atmosphere. We also, provide standing fans in the rooms in case it’s needed. We thank you for staying with us and will be happy to host you again.
With Kindest Regards,
Joelie
