My husband and I rode our bikes from the hotel and down the seawall. There were some sidewalk closures due to construction (61st St) and another in the direction of Pleasure Pier. I assume this construction is happening now because it's the off-season for tourists. We tried to ride along the beach, but the sand is loose and there are occasional granite boulders for the jettys. In between those obstacles, we did had fun playing Pokemon Go, eating frozen yogurt and pizza, and stopping at academy for a hat to my ears warm and bicycle-smartphone mounts. There are so many Pokemon spawns that are rare to East Texas, lots of gyms, and PokeStops! If you're not into that, there are historical markers and statutes, photo opportunities, shopping, frozen yogurt shoppes, people doing photoshoots on the beach, jettys to wander out onto and watch the waves roll in or to fish from, and kids & dogs playing in the sand and waves.
Lots of restaurant choices when you cross the road. Anything from pizza to IHOP to expensive local seafood. Most of the souvenir shops, bars, & fancy restaurants are on the NE end of Seawall Blvd. Watch the traffic when you cross! It's a very busy road. Most intersections have a button on the traffic light for pedestrians to press.
