Garden City, TX is honestly a place that my wife and I never knew existed, but thank god our adoption journey led us there. As most of you reading this probably already know, the hotels in the surrounding areas are extremely unaffordable. After many hours of research online, my wife stumbled upon this quaint B&B that we reserved while we were going to be in town. The pictures online absolutely do not lie, from the well kept landscaping, to the cleanliness of the inside to the outdoor relaxing areas, all are incredible and very inviting.

We also can't say enough about Alex and Cyndi (Owners), as well as the other guests in the house (1 in particular who knows who she is, but not sure if she's comfortable with her name being published). From the minute we walked onto the front porch, we were made to feel as if we had been there and known everyone for years. Our dog, Waylon, was with us on the trip, and everyone instantly fell in love with him, which made us feel even more comfortable.

Because our journey out to Garden City, TX was a little different than most people staying in that city, we weren't the avg customers for Alex and Cyndi. They and "M" completely went out of their way to help us get through our difficult situation and even did some things for us that helped us in ways, not even they probably realize how much it meant to us. We are forever grateful and encourage anyone passing through, to take advantage of this incredible property, and you could possibly make life long friends too in the process like we did.

It was our pleasure to host you two and Waylon. We must say…your stay with us will forever be implanted within our memory. Your story that you shared with us was truly inspiring and we're so happy to have witnessed the happy ending. Your newborn baby boy is so precious and is growing up so fast. (We've noticed thanks to FB)
Thank you for letting us be a part of your story and especially for choosing us over so many others that you could have chosen with regard to accommodation within the Permian Basin.

We hope we'll be able to run into you four when / if we're ever in the Nashville area.
Till then…Cheers to our newfound friends!!
Sincerely…Alex & Cyndi

Vara Guest House is a quaint and unique experience. There's the main house with several guest suites to choose from, and a few small cabins to choose from as well. The grounds are nice with a stargazing area, a hot tub and deck and grilling areas as well. Alex Vara, the innkeeper, is super nice, he's helpful. informative and he pays attention to every detail. I found the guest house to be cozy, clean, comfortable and reasonable and I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay here again should the need arise.

Room tip: I stayed in one of the smaller cabins in June. The cabin was quiet, it was tastefully decorated, it was clean, comfortable and the bed was great. :) If you're in the oil and gas business and need an extended stay, this would be an excellent choice if the drive was within reason. I found Vara Guest House to be a true gem in the West, Texas landscape.

my stay was for month. i was working at Alon refinery in big springs tx. i was at first hesitant because the drive was roughly 30 minutes one way when their were plenty of hotels in big sprigs very close to the refinery. but after i heard how bad the whole town was price gouging the "out if towers" i realized that i came across a lucky find for the price and amenities given. i will continue to be a guest here if i ever have to come back for work. the hosts were very friendly and polite. i unfortunately wasn't able to attend any of the social gatherings because of my work schedule. i would recommend this place to anyone for extended stay.

Thank you Josh for taking time out of your busy schedule to write and tell others about your experience and stay with us. We knew going into business over three years ago that we'd be competing against conglomerates that are better suitably located but with location comes a hefty price tag along with it. Our draw, in our mind, was always to keep it simple. Offer an affordable rate to our potential guests. Offer them a clean, comfortable, quiet room with modern conveniences and let them know that we're always around the premises should there be any additional needs while lodging with us. The best part of the business is getting to meet folks such as yourself and many others along the way. We truly hope you'll seek us out again should your expertise be required once more within the Permian Basin area. Safe travels and Our best wishes to you always!!

After driving over 2,300 miles from Maine, my boyfriend and I were so incredibly grateful to land at a place like Vara Guest House. The amenities are amazing, the beds rival the comfort I've experienced at a 5 star hotel, and the owners, Cindy and Alex, are the best kind of people. If you are looking for a place to stay short term, this is the right place for you. If you are looking for a place to stay long term, this is also the place for you. We came to the Permian Basin to work in the oil industry, but the price vs. quality of living are really at odds... Vara Guest House is literally and figuratively an oasis in this desert. Once you step into the main house..your room.. or your cabin you will feel refreshed and at home! We didn't plan on staying here as long as we did, but we loved the comfort, atmosphere, owners, and price so much, we stuck around for five months instead of signing any leases in Big Spring or Midland. Even with the ~30 min drive to Big Spring, there couldn't have been a better set up for us.

However, I do have one warning about Vara Guest House. NEVER cancel your reservations on a whim thinking "oh I'm gonna find a place a little closer to my workplace." No. Other Hotels may be in town, but you are gonna pay upwards of $300 a night for sub par quality. Once you hit reality, you will try calling back to re-reserve your room(s), but they will be unavailable because someone else already booked them. Then you are forced to shell out senseless $$$ or are stuck in your truck for the night.

We cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough. All their regulars and returning customers really say it all.

I'm Speechless!!

We're totally blown away by your review. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts so that others might get a sense of what they'd be getting into by considering booking with us either short or long term. Seeing as how we're truly a "mom and pop" sole proprietorship…and that any money spent with us typically gets put back into the economy here locally…we truly rely upon each and every guest booking in order to keep offering up the services that we provide…including that "personal touch" that's hard to find in todays corporate environment.

Thank you again for your wonderful review!! We truly hope we'll have the pleasure of having you come back to stay with us in the future.

Sincerely, Alex & Cyndi Vara

We stayed with the entire house and one or two of the outside rooms for our family for our wedding! The rooms are amazing and the views are spectacular. Each room has very comfortable beds and the bathrooms are very relaxing. The wedding part spent a lot of time at the pool table and sitting on the front porch and out back watching the sunsets. I am so thankful that I was able to stay here, they truly helped with my nerves and made my day special!

Room tip: I loved the The Parlor Room and Cynthia's Chamber!

Thank you so much for your kind words. It was truly our pleasure to be able to host you, your spouse and some of the wedding party participants etc. We're so glad that you enjoyed the rooms as well as the surroundings. We've always enjoyed being in this quiet community and it's nice to know that others appreciate the peacefulness and tranquility that's hard to come by sometimes in the bigger cities. You and your now husband…make a beautiful couple and we were honored to be able to host you all. Please don't be a stranger and be sure to come back and see us when you want to "get away from it all". Cheers!!
